  Reasons for an Application Lock (Please Read before Applying)

Failure to read the rules and regulations is NOT an excuse for not following them. 
Failure to follow any of the rules listed here will result in your application being locked.





  • Applicants who apply for either Halo Moderator or Gamemaker, will be voted on by the Staff Team. Staff Applicants who are deemed qualified by the Staff will be accepted into a Trial-Position to which they will undergo 1-2 Weeks of Trial. 
  • Applicants who have their Applications Denied at a Meeting, will have their Application locked with a reason why. You may re-apply in 1 week and we encourage that you work off the feedback that we give you. 


  • If an applicant is banned on the forums or in game their application will be denied and the applicant may reapply when any and all bans are lifted.


  • If an applicant causes or participates in drama on their application, or excessive drama in the general community, their application may be denied. The applicant may reapply at once unless told otherwise, however it is advisable to wait until the drama related issues have been ameliorated.


  • If an applicant is found to have lied in their application (such as false claims or lying about ban history) the application may be denied and the applicant may reapply at once unless told otherwise.


  • If an applicant is advertising their application it will be denied and they may not reapply for a week unless told otherwise. Advertising in this sense is very strict, you may not ask for feedback, display, discuss or link your application or ask someone to do any of this for you. If someone has a question about your staff application you may answer any question as candidly as you wish as long as the communication is private and cannot be viewed later by someone who wasn't there. Any and all questions the applicant has can be addressed to and answered by a community, forum or sometimes server staff member privately. Simply put, you may answer anyone's questions privately or ask your own questions privately to staff members, but that is the limit. -Side note about advertising someone else's application below-


  • An applicant may only comment on their own staff application if they follow the guidelines listed below by Lexa. Doing otherwise will result in the application being denied and the applicant being unable to reapply for a week unless told otherwise. (bumping)


  • Plagiarizing or copying any other player's application is not allowed, any applicant who does so will be denied and will not be allowed to reapply for two weeks unless told otherwise.


  • If an applicant uses an alt account to comment on their own application, all applications by that user will be denied and the applicant may not reapply for two weeks unless told otherwise. The alt accounts will be permabanned and the main account will receive a forum ban, the applicant cannot reapply until the main account's forum ban is over, even if the two week period has lapsed.


  • If an applicant's application is denied and the applicant is told to wait for a specific amount of time but applies before that time is over, the application will be denied and the time will start from the beginning.


  • Resigned Staff Members can re-apply at any time. However, if a Staff Member who resigned within 1 Day and wishes to reconsider joining, you must speak to the Staff Manager FIRST.

  • Demoted Staff Members must wait 1 month from the demotion to apply again. (This includes staff members who were forced to resign)


  • If a staff member has been demoted 3 times, they can not apply again unless told otherwise by a community staff member. (This does not include leaving the team due to failing the trial period)



Side note on the topic of advertising someone else's application:

  • If you wish to discuss someone else's application you may do so if: all participants in said discussion are okay with talking about the application, the discussion cannot be viewed later by individuals who were not part of the discussion and the applicant may not initialize the discussion. All but the last restriction will result in warnings and punishment for the individuals involved but will not effect the application or applicant (unless the applicant is one of the individuals involved)

Common server suggestions overview



Hagrid Teaching Classes (usually about mythical creatures)
If Hagrid is to be moved and is changed to a teaching role, he will have to be moved off of VIP. Why? We must have a VIP online or else we risk having an empty class. Hagrid has been VIP for ages and will not be moved.

Give teachers the ability to arrest:
The problem here is giving too much power to the lower years, you give year 1 players the power to arrest and ultimately they may abuse that privileged. They may arrest people genuinely trying to roleplay rather than those who are in the wrong. VIP first year prefects have a tough time as it is and get into a lot of issues as they step into those shoes, but it will be worse for regulars and teachers overall.

Additional/Alternative teachers (like flitwick):
The models need to be available and the same quality as the things we use in game to make them look good
Lockhart has been suggested as an alternative for DADA but no implementation as no model found
This is the most common issue we face with this type of suggestion for older teachers
 
I would like X character!:
Before placing a suggestion like this make sure that there is a model around that you can find that we can work with.
Models don't come like apples, they're a lot harder to come by, especially player models. If you can find the model on the Workshop good, link that with your suggestion otherwise mention where we could find the model so we can rig it for gmod.
(Most common: Peter Pettigrew)
 
Atmos:
It isn't optimised for our gamemode and/or gmod in general. For smaller kingdomrp or medievalrp servers it's a lot easier to be used since it has less player and server-size overall.
 
Could we change, add, or remove something from the map?:

At this time, the map is in its final version and is not going to be altered. For additions, the map is at its limits and can literally not have anything else added to it. For minor things that may need to be added, we can perma prop things onto each map version but we refrain from doing so since it may cause FPS issues and most the time it looks unappealing. For removing and altering, the maps not being changed anytime soon. This means all rooms and their contents, including the Potions classroom book, will not be changed or removed.

Diagon Alley:
When the time comes, it'd be amazing to have a Diagon Alley event map. This has been suggested so many times but resources must be dedicated into the map before it's possible. Maybe in the future we will have the time to create a Diagon Alley event map, but for now we are focusing on other things. [If you suggest having a second server and connect it to the first one, it's too much money being wasted into a server that would have a constant low population].

Doing Classes By Year Level:
The reason we split classes up with houses is to ensure that there are more students in class and a fair spread amount. It's also to ensure that we have people who have been on the server for a long time able to report issues when a professor is doing wrong. It's a good thought, but it wouldn't work. You'll eventually learn all the spells, but you have to be patient.The main problem is we already have a teacher shortage some days and this would only cause more shortages. The game is here to help people socialise in the community and roleplay, not to diminish it and give people what they want when they want it, be patient, learning magic takes time.

Experience for Events:
Classicus: "These events would have to be created by gamemakers and when the system came out this very suggestion was mentioned. It was concluded that anyone with admin powers could quite easily abuse this system -- yes, we are trusted members to make it this far or for the Gamemakers to make it to trial, but hella restrictions would have to applied to make this idea feasible. But worst case scenarios have to be kept in mind and Guy does not trust anyone with the power to give XP other than himself. And I cannot blame him, this could be gamebreaking."

On top of this, if we were to make npc's drop experience then people would could kill them faster or first would just reap the rewards. As well as being able to only spawn homework at 180 at the insanity of making a job that can spawn homework on all classes only available to be accessed by admins. IF NOT then it's giving an amount of exp with ulx and the limitations would be silly, or it would take too long or abused.

Transfiguration Spells:
In the end, transfig spells will not be possible due to too many issues they cause. The Gnome spell has it's current issues, so moving them to the masses will be a nightmare. It's something we would love to add, but in the end, it's not going to be possible.

Make Snape a death eater/give him sectusempra or apparition/etc.:
As it stands, Snape will remain a DADA professor and solely that. Yes in lore he is a double agent and posses these spells and abilities, but giving them to Snape will unbalance the professor job. If Snape is eventually made into a double agent, it will be a complete job renovation which is not currently planned.

Create some system in which players can purchase wand spells or skins.
The main issue with this is data. When a player learns a spell, that spell's name is written onto their player file. With every single player that comes and goes onto the server, these files build up and is one of the main culprits for server lag. Anything that adds data to the server will most likely be denied.

Modify the XP gained in some form (better homework, farming XP in the Library, NPCs that drop XP, etc.).
Our owner has worked hard in balancing the prestige system in the way he sees fit. After various tests and hard thinking, he's come to the decision that any modification that makes leveling quicker will not be accepted. The current leveling system is tremendously quicker than the old one and it is not being changed.

Add the old map back to the map list temporarily/permanately.
The reason why this will never happen is not due to the looks of the map, it's due to the content present on it. A lot of our assets come from that map and by adding it to the server and having players download both maps, it's unpredictable on what will break.

Hey there everyone


The goal of this post is to give applicants a CLEAR idea of what your job as a server gamemaker is, to shine light on a topic that most people just "kinda figure out". So here are 10 things that you will most definitely have to do as a gamemaker, to keep things moving, and to make your work more professional and significant.


1. Plan your events- There's nothing better than a properly planned and beautifully executed event. As a gamemaker, you will often feel compelled to create "spur of the moment" type of events, and that's okay! But It can't be all you do. You are expected to plan and even test your events before you put them into effect, whether you build a prop that needs to be tested, or a group of custom enemies you plan to use, it should all be thought out, and the bugs should be worked out before the event takes place.

2. Expect to announce & run an event ONCE per week.  - As a gamemaker, you will need to work together with the other gamemakers to come up with an event minimum of once per week. You will have to write a Forum Announcement for your event to gather hype in the few days before the event is executed. It is entirely optional if you want to do more events, as long as the quota of one per week is met. You can work together with other gamemakers on this event or take turns covering the weeks to make sure one event is being made weekly. Admins and SuperAdmins at times will also be making forum announcements for events, therefore you won't need to cover for that week. You can still do surprise or spontaneous events, but they will not count towards the event quota however.

3. Expect negative feedback- Not everyone is going to like what you do as a gamemaker, and they won't hesitate to show it. People will bash your events right in front of your face and they'll firmly believe that they can do a better job. The fact is, they don't understand all the factors that work against a gamemaker when an event is planned, and so I ask you to dismiss any cruel criticism, but gladly ACCEPT constructive criticism.

4. Expect positive feedback- Not all of the feedback you get will be negative, you will also get a great deal of positive responses. Be sure to embrace, and thank those who give you positive feedback because it's those people who understand what you're trying to do for the community and who truly appreciate your work.

5. Never halt an event- It's not unheard of that an event will go horribly wrong. Common problems include: Server crashes, chronic lag, mass exploiting, disobeying of event rules. If any of these things happen, it's important that you seize control and continue the event until the end, even if you have to set it up all over again. Sometimes it may happen that the server crashes persistently for unknown reasons. But it's important that you do NOT halt, for when you're executing an event, the situation is a lot bigger than yourself, and it involves a server full of eager people.

6. Maintain a steady pace (1-2 events per week)- Perhaps other staff members may disagree, but as a Gamemaker you have a job to do, and if you don't do it, you might as well not have applied in the first place. Whether you're scheduling frequent events, creating content for the server, or building for future events, you absolutely NEED to be doing something.

7. Don't be afraid to ask for help- Plenty of staff members have executed events in the past, and not all of them are Gamemakers. If you have any doubts, don't be afraid to ask them for help. Such people include: Admins, Gamemakers, Super Admins, and even Moderators.  Don't be afraid to ask any of them at any time if you have any questions or doubts.

8. Refrain from abusing your vast priviledges-  As a Gamemaker you will receive a variety of tools and assets that will help you create your events. It is preferable that you do not abuse these abilities in any way. This includes but is not limited to:Prop spamming, prop blocking, failRP Prop spawning, Needlessly using commands on others players, orchestrating chaos, messing with the class schedule without a valid reason, spawning dupes you will not use during events, perma-propping anything, messing with the server map unless it's for an event.

9. Be willing to involve others in what you do. (Staff and Players alike)- When you create storyline events, you may need certain people to execute lines, or to play a character. Example: Don't be afraid of using players to take on RP Leader roles during your events! Perferably, players  who are trusted and maintain a good reputation.

10. Do this because you want to- If you're applying to become Gamemaker JUST because you want to be staff to you I say: CEASE AND DESIST. If you want to be disciplinary please apply for moderator but if you're applying to become a Gamemaker, then you must do your job, otherwise you're wasting our time, you're wasting your time, and you made us pass up another possibe candidate who truly wants this job.


DISCIPLINARY PARAMETERS
(IMPORTANT)


1. Gamemakers may hand out punishments to players during major events for a maximum amount of time of 12-hours.
2. Gamemakers may act as substitute mods when there are NO Moderators. However they still have the same 12hr ban restriction. If the rule a player broke is severe enough (As they deserve more then a 12 hour ban), Gamemakers must leave a notice to the staff team with the Players: Name, Steam ID & Reason why.
3. Gamemakers may setup Passive RP related stuff every now and then as long as they are RP-friendly.
4. Gamemakers may execute LARGE scale events with at least 2-3 other staff members present to watch over players and help the event run smoothly.
5. Gamemakers HAVE to do pre-event briefing and explain to everyone what it is they need to do.
6. Gamemakers are NOT to answer Staff Calls unless a player is stuck, asking for help, giving weapons to cadets, whitelisting cadets, or a nor related-sit issue.
7. Gamemakers are considered staff. Moderators/Admins are to TRUST reports given by Gamemakers, they do not need evidence. However you may be called to give your side of the story on possible Ban Appeals/Staff Applications/Staff Reports/etc.

4. Gamemakers may execute LARGE scale events with at least 2-3 other staff members present to watch over players and help the event run smoothly.
5. Gamemakers HAVE to do pre-event briefing and explain to everyone what it is they need to do. (EX: Light Side = Great Hall | Dark Forces = Graveyard)
6. Gamemakers are NOT to answer Staff Calls unless a player is stuck, asking for help,asking for help or a nor related-sit issue.
7. Gamemakers are considered staff. Moderators/Admins are to TRUST reports given by Gamemakers, they do not need evidence. However you may be called to give your side of the story on possible Ban Appeals/Staff Applications/Staff Reports/etc.
