Classes in GoM

With the transition of the old server to the new Galaxy of Magic, many big changes had to be made.

I would like to ask if there are plans for lessons.

If there are no plans at the moment, I would like to give my suggestions as below:

*****

On the old server, players can draw upon pre-existing lore for lessons, whether teaching as a professor or participating as a student.

However, since we cannot use the old lore anymore, what will players use for lessons?

I think the immediate idea that comes to mind, keeping with the trend of "one-to-one replacement", is to write a brand new set of original lore.

I believe that some basic world-building is necessary to explain the purpose and existence of the GoM school and the various roles on the server (e.g. Void).
However, if the new lore becomes too complicated, then it becomes ineffective.
Certainly I am not going to read a novel-sized wall of text just to understand what kind of fictional plants I can teach about in Botany class.

Which is why I would like to suggest:
Non-spell lessons should have themes that allow players to teach / participate using real world knowledge.

Many of the old classes can be changed 1-to-1 with some adjustments:
  • Botany: Players can teach about real world plants, herbs, flowers, gardening, etc, rather than fictional plants.
This can include uses of herbs in cooking, language / symbolism of flowers, use of poisonous plants in the making of poisons, etc.

  • Astrology: Players can teach about real world astrology, like planets, moons, black holes, other space phenomenon, etc (which was already being done on the old server)

  • Zoology: Players can teach about real world animals, like interesting organisms or even everyday animals like cats and dogs.
Considering GoM's mythology theme, perhaps mythological creatures can be included as well (e.g. minotaur, medusa, etc).
I see that player models have been made for such creatures, which can make lessons even more immersive.

  • Human Culture: Players can teach about various human cultures in different parts of the planet

  • Earth History: Players can teach about various events that happened in human history, rather than a fictional in-universe history
(Even on the old server, this lesson was rarely taught in detail despite the pre-existing lore to work with)

  • Current Affairs: Players can teach / discuss about real world current affairs.
Not sure whether this will open up a can of worms for political talk, but I figured it would be a good avenue for players to talk about relevant ongoing events.

I believe that this will make lessons more interactive and give players an incentive to participate in class, rather than sit silently and wait for homework. (Or not even show up for class until it's time for homework.)

I believe that spell-teaching classes will remain more or less the same, since teachers can simply base their lessons on whatever spell they intend to teach, e.g. "Today I'm going to be teaching X. This spell does Y. I need a volunteer for demonstration."
