*1.8. PVP

Bug 
1. Minecraft Name: ThomasMP3
2. What's the suggestion?: Disable the 1.9. PVP, and add the no cooldown one.
3. Why should your suggestion be accepted?: 1.9 PVP is trash, and no one likes it. It's also a pain in the ass to time the cooldown when the server and the npc lag.
4. What are the possible negatives?: none

Haven't gotten around to playing on the server yet, but can confirm any PVP past 1.8 is shit.

+1 if the server lag isn't fixed

But if it is, then I don't see the point in changing it. Trust me, I am an advocate for pre 1.9 PVP, but in my experience the cooldown is one of the few things that keeps me barely conscious while grinding. And it makes certain weapons like the Hardened Dsword not OP, without the extra cooldown it would be almost on par with the Crimson sword.

Easy -1
PvP pre 1.9 was people who were just spamming their clicks, with damage being done per click instead of per time. the concept of it for spamming it seemed biased for those with higher end computers with little to no tactic in how they fought. post 1.9 blocking and combat got it's overhaul to be more fair for the casual PC gamer so everyone had a chance. i would NEVER recommend 1.8 combat for anything. anyone who advocates for it just wants to because they've never left the 1.8 mindset for spamming click = doing good.

But PVP is barely a thing on this server. It's mostly for the mobs that spawn on your farms on mines. You only see people pvp atleast 2 or 3 times a day, and that's when Crate Drops actually happen. It's also not an unadvantage for low end pc players. Spamming your mouse only gives them a higher chance to hit, instead of having to wait for the cooldown to happen and to block combat. The fact that these mobs could 2 hit new players and they would have to wait for a cooldown to hit them, while the zombies get near them, it just completely makes them lose the interest of farming them, and possibly getting a better armor.

This isn't about which PVP system is better in general, this is about which is better for the server and what is important there. PVP takes a back seat to grinding almost constantly, and fighting in the arena is more reliant on the use of abilities rather than regular melee to begin with. I'm willing to advocate for 1.9 under those conditions despite preferring the older system. I could go into why, but it's not the point of this thread (which is why I advise we DON'T argue over PVP systems like players have done for the past few years).

As far as I know, there is no way to do this without applying no cooldown to EVERY WEAPON manually because it is built into 1.14.4 which is what our server runs off natively. I will look into it more and see if there is a lightweight (Non-resource-intensive) plugin that can accomplish this and if there is after that I will test various scenarios to see if it would work on our server for PVP. We have weapons that are designed to use the cooldown and make it longer or shorter as the main feature (For example our Dwarven Axe) so it would need to be something that doesn't eliminate the cooldowns in every world but only the PVP world. Also, it's worth noting that eventually, we will have a separate PVP minigame or a duel chamber and that the PVP world is NOT meant to function as a PVP minigame in the traditional Minecraft sense.
