Constantin/Scratcher/Shawn/Goku''s third GM app.

Brick
Note before reading: for this app, I elected to not go out of my way to color code/enhance unless there was a change from the previous app. Any major changes will be marked in light blue.

(1.) What is your SteamID? -
STEAM_0:1:1270655, STEAM_0:0:550833023

(1a) What are your most recent ingame names? -

Constantin Wrathbourne / Scratcher Cron
Anyone who knows me knows I switch between these two characters a lot.

To a lesser degree I also play Captain Shawn Ghandi and Goku Forestdweller. Each character, their personalities, and their loyalties correlate to a different house at Hogwarts and I play and design them to ensure each Hogwarts demographic is represented.
(1b) What is your current year level in-game? (MUST be 7th to apply.) -
 7th yr master prestige
(2.) What Timezone do you live in? -

EST
(2a) Please put what times you are most active in CST (Chicago US), so the managers know when they can expect to see you. -
Likely nights EST. I try to stay active throughout the nights and most mornings as well.
 (3.) How old are you?
 Old enough!
(4.) When did you first join our server and how did you discover it? -
December – through a twitch stream.
(4a) How can we be sure you will stay active and loyal (with your time) to Star by Star? -
I spend much of my free time playing this server.
(4b) Do you understand you can be let go at ANY time for inactivity? -

Yes
(5.) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with, but also enforce the rules of the Server when necessary? -
Completely. Staff members should be held to a higher standard.
(5a) When listing the rules please explain what they mean to show that you understand them.
 List Rules below:

Spoiler: rules 1-10

(5b) Explain what the term "minge" means, when referring to a player on the server -

A minge is a person who knowingly and intentionally uses their time to go out of the way to break rules, offend, or decrease the value of game play on the server for others. They also may waste time of staff with false reports.

(6.) Tell us about yourself and why you want to be staff on SBS? (100 words or less) -

I want to be staff because I feel I am not able to give back and help the community to the degree it needs and deserves as a normal player.

I want to be GM because I feel I am ready for a second trial. All signs and feedback are telling to having me post this application and to reapply now. I currently see a lot of missed opportunities for RP on the server and hope to bridge the gap between the current nothingness and entertainment/value.

(7.) What do you feel you need to improve on the most? -

In my first trial I was not the best at asking for feedback, depending on others to approach me to give it even days after meetings would occur to not come off as a burden. This worked against me.

My courtyard builds were also always a work in progress. I don't know if they'll ever be "good enough" but I know to keep them simple now.

I would also sometimes leave props out despite being done with actively using them. Additionally, I never learned to change maps after giving out event rewards, as they stick around and transform into other types of issues. I've seen others do this now and understand why it's important to keep things clean.

I also feel that I need to work on my ability of being more trusting of others and not too defensive, and to not take sits unless absolutely needed.

(8.) How would having you on staff benefit our server and what sets you apart from the rest of the applicants? -

Apart from being the most active and accessible, I am the type of GM who enjoys enhancing the experience of others. Hearkening to that staff vs player question (11), I truly do practice what I preach on this- I am not known for being the GM who always did grand events or the most pretty events, but people do remember me for creating some of the most meaningful experiences on server. Whenever something interesting is advertised in owlpost and I am not doing much, I would typically investigate or participate. I would also attend classes and enhance lessons when teaching was good. In times of chaos or with no moderation staff online, I was also helpful in enforcement. I took it a bit too far by providing a fun experience in sits when I had to take them with GM tools, but know not to do it now.

I also have a better grasp on the limitations of gmod due to a conversation that I had with an admin. I now play with a laptop as well to detect any performance drops.

Additionally, if changes need to be made or there are additions that need to be suggested, I know how to word these suggestions more properly.

In the past, my builds were criticized for causing frame drops (this seems to be a common complaint with other gms and admins as well). I am now able to detect drops in performance with my laptip sooner than I can on my PC.

Lastly, I've managed to create some good RP by using two accounts in tandem. Having an extra pair of hands like this and being able to interact with the two clients has opened up a new world of possibilities from a creative perspective. I know to not utilize both with a server near capacity as it takes up a slot for a potential player though.

(9.) Have you been staff/are currently on any other servers? If so, which ones? (List them if possible) -
no

(10.) Have you ever been banned on any Garrys Mod/SBS servers? If yes, then please list when, how long, and the reason. -
Other than as a joke, no.

(11.) Are the Server staff or the players more important? Why? -

Players are most important but staff should be appreciated for what they do as well. Sometimes people forget that staff are also players. Players breathe life into the server and without players, there is no need to have staff, but without staff you will not be able to retain players or maintain a level of play quality.

(12.) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (EX: Patience, Communication, etc) -

overall I'm probably a solid 8

(13.) How familiar on a scale of 1 to 10 are you with Garrys Mod Sandbox tools? -

about an 8. With what I know now, it is probably enough to pass trial.

There is a lot that can be done in single player that can't be done in a server with 105 slots. I know to keep this in mind for my builds.

(14.) Give us a couple of detailed examples of an event you would use and how you would proceed with them -
In these documents contain ideas that have been executed (with dates and notes, as well as feedback if collected) as well as ideas not executed yet.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/13uEI...l-umY/edit
(15.) Do you have any experience using ULX or building on Garry's Mod? -

Yes, a lot. I've also found ways to utilize these tools without breaking immersion.

(16.) You understand and realize, that by applying for staff on the server also means, that you are sacrificing the complete freedom of being able to RP freely all the time without any interruptions, and are obligated to handle all server issues at hand no matter the situation? -

Yes and I know to ask for breaks when needed.

(17.) Please make a list of all previous staff applications, a link to them, and the reason they were locked. If they were accepted, please give a short explanation of why you are no longer staff. (Disregard if this is your first application) -

https://starbystargaming.com/showthread?tid=11972 locked after 30 days, there is much valuable criticism from Lydia and Miro in this topic regarding my previous trial. much of the feedback in this topic was others telling me I should have waited about a month or so to reapply. In all honestly I knew it wouldn't get accepted, but I wanted to get the feedback as soon as possible to begin working and reflecting on my flaws, and felt at the time that this was the best way to go about doing it.

https://starbystargaming.com/showthread?tid=11330 accepted as trial GM but denied for spawning guns from a gun shop and for the police force in a New York event without asking for permission from a super admin.
Plays as:
Constantin Wrathbourne-Sisca,
 his identical twin Scratcher Kūhaku,
[Captain] Shawn Ghandi
Goku Forestdweller

Active ongoing RP stories:
Something New
The Facility

Big +1

I thought constantin was a great gm during his trial and I really enjoyed pretty much everything he did and most of my friends did too he really reminds me of konrads style and I know most of the time the newer players really enjoy konrads stuff and I know it was the same in constantins case and he is also very situated with the rules and is always the first person to respond to questions.

He is a very nice player and really easy to talk to ooc or within rp, I really believe he deserves another shot I think he will do much better this time

Scratcher is a good guy. I like him, witty, knows how to roleplay and has good event ideas/suggestions.

I believe he has had time to learn and think over his mistakes from when he last had trial to get this position at least giving him another go/chance.

This is the kind of guy you want to have involved with your community. He's damn near always the first person to reply to these mod application requests and the quality of his replies are better than anybody else that I have seen (not an exaggeration).

Great player in game as well. Don't let this guy get away guys.

Constantin/Scratcher/Shawn/Goku is definetly good at rp, as a gm he could be more expansive with it.

I agree with everyone else. Constantin is creative, he's active, he's learned from his past mistakes and he has the right mindset to be GM. I think he would do better if he got another chance.

My vote will be a +1.

Good Luck with your Application!

I want to plus one this, but something about you making an application and not even an hour later make a post about Getting event ideas rubs me the wrong way. It comes off as cocky? Like you know you’re going to get trial. It even comes off like you have no ideas to have when you are a game maker. Either way, it would have been a post that would have been better if a friend would have made it, or a post made after passing trial, or during trial to get general feedback of what the community wants.

Because of that I’ll be neutral.

I 100% agree with this. I’ve seen much improvement with how you conduct yourself on the server, but I’m still not completely convinced. neutral
