Heart
(1.) What is your SteamID? - STEAM_0:0:183466692

(1a) What is your most recent ingame name? - Joe Mason

(1b) What is your current year level in-game? (MUST be 7th to apply.) - Prestige 2, Year 6

(2.) What Timezone do you live in? - GMT+1

(2a) Please put what times you are most active in CST (Chicago US), so the managers know when they can expect to see you. - 08:00  - 13:00

 (3.) How old are you? - 17

(4.) When did you first join our server and how did you discover it? - I first joined back in 2019 and found it through friends telling me to join & also watching some videos of people playing on the server.

(4a) How can we be sure you will stay active and loyal (with your time) to Star by Star? - I have been playing consistently almost everyday over the past months and have no plans of slowing down anytime soon.

(4b) Do you understand you can be let go at ANY time for inactivity? - I do.

(5.) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with, but also enforce the rules of the Server when necessary? - Of Course.

(5a) When listing the rules please explain what they mean to show that you understand them.
 List Rules below:

1: No Fail Roleplay (FailRP) - FailRP is the act of breaking out of the roleplay job or the scenario you are currently in. An example of this would be arresting somebody for something they did OOC as a prefect. Or the most common becoming a teacher to teach absolutely nothing or something unrelated to the subject you are supposed to be doing.

2: Disrespectful, hateful, and offensive behavior or speech towards others is not allowed - An all-encompassing rule about being respectful and kind to other players on the server. This includes but is not limited to using slurs and other offensive language to others, targeting and harassment and unwanted sexual advances or comments. What i personally see most on the server is players using slurs and offensive language to berate and anger other players to get some kind of reaction out of it. This should not be taken lightly as it can seriously impact members of the server and push new players away so a punishment of equal severity is expected.

3: No Random DeathMatch (RDM) - This is a rule common place on almost every corner of gmod. This simply means killing another player for no valid RP reason. A common example of this is just after the spell "Verdimillious" has been given out in DADA class and students begin shooting it at each other to kill.

4: Obey Staff and Roleplay leaders - Roleplay is built on a hierarchical system where those on the top are classified as Roleplay leaders and those below must obey as long as the request does not break the server rules. A common example of this is Snatchers not following the orders of Voldemort or other higher ranked dark forces causing either them to be killed by a higher up or if things escalate, staff getting involved. While this is the case for Roleplay leaders it is expected for you to follow the orders of staff at all times.

5: No Massive Free Spelling - Free spelling (FS), is the act of using spells with no valid roleplay reason. While using non-damaging spells is less severe and not always considered FS, if repeated after being warned to stop by a prefect or staff then you will most likely be sent to detention or a more harsh punishment if needed. Damaging spells should never be cast unless 100% necessary and breaches rule 3 if used to kill, this may result in a kick or ban.

6: No Metagaming - Metagaming is the act of using information you do not know in RP and using it within RP. There are many examples of metagaming but the more common instances are usually someone reading the title of a Snatcher or other unrevealed dark force and calling them out for it or even attacking them with no evidence of them being revealed. Another common example is  breaking another rule, NLR and using information they had gained before there death in a new life.

7: No Microphone or Chatspam - Micspam is the act of playing loud noises or music through your mic / intentionally using your mic for a long period of time to disrupt others. This ruins the immersion of the other players by purposely being disruptive. A common situation you see is someone blasting meme music through there phone to disrupt a class or rp situation, this usually ends up with them arrested or a more severe punishment if they continue. Chatspam is the act of spamming the chat either in OOC or the regular chat with things not related to rp in a quick succession to fill the screen of players, this is usually with promotion of a external source or harassment.

8: Owlpost is for significant roleplay purposes only - Only Owlpost things what are necessary to RP, nothing OOC related or useless information. An example of when it is necessary is information regarding PTS in a class, a snatch being sold or information regarding the QP.

9: No ERP (Erotic Roleplay) - Erotic Roleplay or ERP is performing sexual actions within RP, this could be anything from roleplay sex to talking about sexual topics in chat. An example of this is players playing moaning noises through there microphones to disturb a class.

10: Do not avoid the AFK system or map exploit - AFK exploiting is the act of avoiding the system that kicks you for being afk for a certain amount of time, this can include using macros to automatically move you. Map exploiting is the act of using bugs and glitches within the map to benefit yourself or others, this could be glitching out of bounds or other such exploits. This ruins the roleplay experience for others and for AFK exploiting it could fill up a job role or player spot.

(5b) Expain what the term "minge" means, when referring to a player on the server - A minge is someone who actively tries to ruin the roleplay experience or fun others are having for there own personal gain.

(6.) Tell us about yourself and why you want to be staff on SBS? (100 words or less) - I'm Joe and i am from the UK. I have a big interest in music, fashion and Harry Potter. I want to be staff on SBS to better the experience of other players by creating fun events and helping them with issues they may have.

(7.) What do you feel you need to improve on the most? - Definitely getting to know more people around the server. I rarely branch out from talking to a select few group of people and i would like to get to know a lot more of the people on here.

(8.) How would having you on staff benefit our server and what sets you apart from the rest of the applicants? - I am extremely motivated to get things done, i enjoy creating things and i feel as that would benefit me greatly as being a Gamemaker. I am also from a timezone where most of the day it is Prefect Law and not much is going on besides people running around arresting rulebreakers.

(9.) Have you been staff/are currently on any other servers? If so, which ones? (List them if possible) - I am not currently but i was previously staff and developed for a few other server, i will list the notable ones:

- Head Of Staff/Community Manager/Event Manager for GlowingLight
- Trial-Moderator for Werwolf Gaming SCP-RP
- Head Of Staff for CardinalRP

(10.) Have you ever been banned on any Garrys Mod/SBS servers? If yes, then please list when, how long, and the reason. - Yes i was banned when i first joined the server for 2 weeks. It is something i am not proud of til this day and i regret doing it but i have moved past that and i don't plan on doing something like that ever again.

(11.) Are the Server staff or the players more important? Why? - Staff are obviously important but you can't have functioning staff without the players, so in the grand scheme of things players stand out as more important to me.

(12.) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (EX: Patience, Communication, etc) -

- Patience: 9 (I am a patient person but nobody is perfect)
- Communication: 8 (I would say i am pretty good at getting my point across to people and pretty quick at it too)
- Overall: 7 (There is always room for improvement and i see myself as having a pretty good skill set but there are a few things i always can work on)

(13.) How familiar on a scale of 1 to 10 are you with Garrys Mod Sandbox tools? - 9, I have been playing gmod for what i would say is a pretty long time and i have gotten very familiar with it's mechanics and tools and am very comfortable using things like hydraulics and other moving parts.

(14.) Give us a couple of detailed examples of an event you would use and how you would proceed with them - I would say there are 2 key defining types of roleplay event and i will showcase one of each, that being combat based and roleplay based:

Mythical Creature Liberation:

This combat based event involves Dark Forces breaching inside Hogwarts to free the mythical creatures used for class demonstrations and bring them back to the graveyard for there own devious intent. The goal is for the Dark Forces to get in and out either through sheer force or sneaky tactics with the creatures in question before a timer runs out. based on how many creatures each side has determines the victor of the event. Any creature harmed by either side will result in deductions from points. This event will need a balanced and fair number of players on both sides so it cannot be used as a passive event. Certain routes will be blocked due to them being easy to get in and out without any trouble and people will have to require entirely on there team being as skilled as they are to win over the opposing force.

Dark Day At Hogwarts:

This is a heavily roleplay-based event and will last quite a while but can be semi-passive. The ministry has been bribed under the nose of Dumbledore to allow new staff into the school. Little does he know the staff are actually working for the Dark Lord himself and results in the students being fed anti-LF propaganda. It is up for the students to work with Dumbledore and the Aurors to gather information and evidence to prove to the Ministry and the Daily Prophet that these people are not to be trusted or worked with before it is too late. This event won't necessarily focus on the aspect of trying to rid the DF from the school but more focus on the environment and things that would happen during something like this happening, For example in HoM class the teacher would rewrite the history books and teach about how great the Dark Forces did in the first wizarding war and how they were actually in the right.

(15.) Do you have any experience using ULX or building on Garry's Mod? - Yes i have a lot of experience using ULX from my time being staff on other servers and also building experience from making events previously.

(16.) You understand and realize, that by applying for staff on the server also means, that you are sacrificing the complete freedom of being able to RP freely all the time without any interruptions, and are obligated to handle all server issues at hand no matter the situation? - Yes, i do

(17.) Please make a list of all previous staff applications, a link to them, and the reason they were locked. If they were accepted, please give a short explanation of why you are no longer staff. (Disregard if this is your first application) -

Joe, most of the time I play on the server, you're one of the players who I see mic spamming and FailRP'ing the most during prefect law. I have also never seen you reinforce the rules, teach classes nor host Great Halls, and you only showcase 2 events, which seem to be very basic. If you're applying for a staff position I suggest you start prefecting and reinforce some main server rules, play as RP leader roles, host some Great Halls, and maybe write a document and link it in your application with more events and more detail in them. For now, it will be a -1 from me.

Hey Joe! After reading through your application I'm going to be giving my vote solely  on the events provided, not at all based on your reputation/behaviour. Though they are important, I will not be addressing them in my reply.

So as an Ex Gamemaker, the best tip I can give to you is give as many events as physically possibly.

Two events just kind of seems like you scraped the bottom of the barrel for ideas, I mean, once you finish these two, what will your next one be? Will you just run out and resign? Thats what Im worried about.

Things to amp up a GM app -

Show some builds, give 3-5 large events, passive rp examples, and make it seem like you have the type of creative mind the team needs.

The events that you do have, seem very generic to me though.

Mythical Creature Liberation- I like the idea, It seems fun and something that the server might enjoy, but it in no means is original. I know that the server would like events that have choices. Not just some "retrieve this object from the light forces, etc etc" event that has been done 30 million times.

A Dark Day in Hogwarts- I mean, this just might be me but this seems like a switched up version of a dark force takeover event, which everyone knows is a very very overused event idea. So in my opinion, this event needs something to set it apart from others, whether it be with characters, plot twists, playerbase weighed options, etc. Not really my idea of a trial worthy event. :(

Another thing you need to realize- is that events hardly EVER go as planned. These event ideas seem pretty straight forward, but you need to think about different problems that may arise while it is ongoing. Just a tip :)

I apologize if any of this came off harsh, though I wanted to give as strong of feedback as I could give you. I do hope you take all of this into account and work on it, and if you do, I see no reason why you should not be given trial in the future.

That all being said, my vote will be a -1, I just don't really think you are ready at the moment.

I'd like to say first off, no it didn't come off as harsh whatsoever and i appreciate how indepth your reply was. I am well aware shortly after posting my showcased events section was not up to scratch and does not represent my abilities of creating and running events. Regardless thank you for the advice and tips!
