Captain PITTAH's Staff Application

(1.) What is your SteamID and your Steam URL? - STEAM_0:1:62492341

(1a) What is your most recent in-game name?
ARF FC Karma. My main life, however, would be Captain Pizzeh.

(1b) What battalion are you in? - 212th Attack Battalion, soon to main Shock.
(2.) What Timezone do you live in? - PST
(2a) Please put what times you are most active in CST (Chicago US), so the managers know when they can expect to see you.
My activity varies on the activity of the server, but I am generally most active from 3pm-10pm CST.

 (3.) How old are you? - 19
(4.) When did you first join our server and how did you discover it?
I joined with my IRL friend Canvas back in late December 2019. Out of boredom, we decided to play CWRP again after a couple of years and selected SBS since it had been the only name we recognized after all these years.
(4a) How can we be sure you will stay active and loyal (with your time) to Star by Star?
Unless I'm trolling, I don't normally return to Clone Wars RP servers. However, Star by Star Gaming provides an experience that is very close to what I experienced on two servers I formerly played on. I couldn't explain it to you unless you were there with me, but this particular CWRP server reminds me of my old days on the servers I came from.  For that, I've stuck around and dedicated much of my time here already. I've really made a name for myself here and I've made several friends here in the community. For these reasons, I will remain an active member of SBS Gaming until I move on in life or the CWRP server itself dies.
(4b) Do you understand you can be let go at ANY time for inactivity? - Of course. If I'm not going to contribute, then why am even I here right?
(5.) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with but also enforce the rules of the Server when necessary?
Absolutely. This is likely one of the only servers where I have never gone out my way to deliberately break rules and will continue to do so.
(5a) When listing the rules please explain what they mean to show that you understand them.
 List Rules below:

  1. No Major FailRP: Players should not do anything immersion-breaking or uncharacteristic of the average Clone Trooper. Flying with Climb SWEP and standing on others' heads are two very common examples of FailRP. In the scope of any CWRP server, other examples include wearing kamas outside of appropriate ranks/specializations, abusing vehicles, breaking PTS, etc. These are 3 of many things that an average Clone Trooper wouldn't just do. In essence, don't do anything outlandish unless you have a truly valid RP reason.
  2. No Player/Staff Disrespect: I'm not sure why it's so difficult for some players to follow this rule, but here we are. Being a respectful community member starts with putting your pride to the side. I can't tell you how much of the disrespect comes from one's elitist mentality or the "I'm always right" mentality. This sounds a lot like a saying that elementary school teachers use, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. However, if you really have problems with another player, discuss it with them professionally and privately. This is an online community completely separate from your personal life, so there's really no need to get so worked up, give other players an attitude, and start playground fights with one another.
  3. No RDM (Random Deathmatch): Do not kill other players outside of RP or PVP situations. Outside of those boundaries, there's no reason for you to shoot other players unless you're trolling.
  4. Obey Staff and RP Leaders: Do not usurp Staff/RP leaders and do not undermine their efforts. They are in a position where have to dedicate much effort to facilitate an enjoyable RP experience and disobeying them makes it that much harder for them.
  5. Do not Mic or Chat Spam: Don't use your microphone in-game unless you're going to start an appropriate conversation or add to an appropriate conversation. When you are mic-spamming, you are interfering with the RP experience, likely breaking the other rules, and simply being obnoxious. Flooding the chat is also unnecessary. If you want to get somebody else's attention, then find some other way to do it without being a nuisance.
  6. Advert is for RP Purposes Only: On top of that, /advert is a command limited to officers and other permitted roles. I consider /advert to be a "high-priority" version of comms. This means that a player should only use it to deliver important information to the rest of the server in an RP setting, otherwise everyone may become confused. If you're going to use /advert outside of RP, you can either tag your message with an OOC indicator or just use the OOC chat, to begin with.
  7. Salute your Commanding Officers: Clone troopers salute their commanding officers in all Star Wars media, so you should salute your commanding officers here too. Saluting is a sign of respect for those that have proven worthy of an officer position. It also shows that you're attentive. This rule applies even if you don't like a particular officer.
  8. Do not Abuse the AFK System or Map Exploit: Unless you're actively playing on the server, don't misuse the AFK system to retain your spot. This rule applies especially when the server is nearly full and in need of more slots for those of which are logging on to play. Generally, map exploiting is abusing the game's mechanics to get into otherwise inaccessible areas. ALT+E exploiting is the most common method.
(5b) Explain what the term "minge" means when referring to a player on the server - I'm not entirely sure why Garry's Mod players don't just use the word "troll" instead, but that's basically what a minge is. We typically assign this label to players who mess around during RP hours in order to disrupt the experience and entertain themselves, if not the people who surround them. Minges typically break server rules in order to accomplish this, but it's also worth noting that one doesn't have to immediately break server rules to minge.
(6.) Tell us about yourself and why you want to be staff on SBS? (100 words or less)
The players who currently manage staff are very selective of their team and I respect that. As a result, the staff team is currently composed of capable, mature players who I could easily work with and possibly enjoy a drink with. In the grand scheme of things, this is truly one of the few Garry's Mod servers I've played on that I believe doesn't have a single incompetent staff member. However, CWRP is in a state where staff are coming and going. For that reason, I believe that this server can't really have too many staff members, and I want to be the next addition to this growing staff team
(7.) What do you feel you need to improve on the most?
Although I like to consider myself to be chill and charismatic, I can also be somewhat quick to anger in certain situations, especially when people demonstrate my biggest pet peeves. I've been getting better at letting go, but if I can avoid getting angry in the first place and keep on releasing my anger in healthy ways, then I won't create very many problems.
(8.) How would having you on staff benefit our server and what sets you apart from the rest of the applicants?
Going back to my anger issues, I am actually not one to take my anger out directly on others. As a moderator, being able to contain my anger from people I'm particularly frustrated with would benefit both parties greatly since it would be my job to work with other players in pressing situations. Rather than lashing at people right away, I instead prefer to contain my frustration and take the time to guide others in the right direction. It also helps that I let all of my frustration out in Discord calls with my friends before I even get a chance to yell directly at anybody I'm angry at, and it usually takes me a while before I decide I should yell at a person.

A lot of my patience comes from my experience having worked two customer service jobs. As a result of about 3 years of customer service experience, I'm very comfortable working with strangers and understanding others. I've never left a customer until I've fulfilled their needs to the best of my abilities and I've been in many situations where I've had to work with several customers in a row. These experiences have built up my social skills and I've made several friends in the community to show for it.
(9.) Have you been staff/are currently on any other servers? If so, which ones? (List them if possible)
In 2018, I was an Event Planner on Prominent Gaming CWRP for about a month.

Outside of that, I've never been able to completely serve on a staff team on any other server. I've been accepted into staff positions on a DarkRP server and another CWRP server, although both servers died before I could completely start moderator training.
(10.) Have you ever been banned on any Garrys Mod/SBS servers? If yes, then please list when, how long, and the reason.
I've been banned more times than I can count off of several different Garry's Mod servers. In fact, I was banned for a day on Hogwarts RP three years ago for killing a professor, but I highly doubt anyone is still around who would remember that. I've been banned for prop-killing, mass-RDMing, RDMing in sits, leaving to avoid punishment, NLR violations, etc. There was even a time where I racked up 100 player-kills on a DarkRP server with my friends before finally getting banned. With all that being said, I can truthfully say that getting banned off of servers is half of the fun Garry's mod has to offer. At this point, you might be wondering why I would brag about my bad track record if I was trying to apply for a moderator position. It's because at this point, most people reading my application have known me long enough to figure out that I'm very good at containing myself on the SBS CWRP server. This is one of the few servers I take seriously enough to play properly, and it's the reason why higher-ups have trusted me with officer positions.

It's also worth mentioning that through all my experience minging, trolling, and getting banned off of other servers; I know how to sniff these people out. On top of that, I am very confident that my experience will help ensure that I hand out only the most appropriate punishments. So although I've been a complete troll outside of SBS, I've developed a very good track record on this server and I intend to keep it growing. (I don't really troll on Garry's Mod these days, but I'm smart enough to keep SBS out of my name and hide all traces of SBS when I go on other servers. Nobody will ever know where I come from, trust me.)
(11.) Are the Server staff or the players more important? Why? - Players are easily the most important part of any game server. Without a healthy, active player base, there is truly no purpose for staff to begin with.
 (12) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (EX: Patience, response time, etc) -
  • Patience: 8/10 (I'm very patient with people as a result of my experience as an XO and a former customer service employee.)
  • Response Time: 7/10 (At times, it might take me a short while to respond to messages if I'm too focused on one thing, but I can otherwise be very prompt when somebody needs my attention.)
  • Activity: 7/10 (I can be somewhat prone to burnout unless I'm having enough fun on the server or have a purpose to be on. You'll generally see me on a lot however.)
  • Communication: 9/10 (I generally have no problems articulating my thoughts. I'm a good listener and very understanding when I'm fully engaged in conversations.)
  • Competence: 8/10 (I can be oblivious at times. I like being very analytical. I've always been able to think critically and see the bigger picture. I'm also quite self-aware and I'm not completely immune to criticism)
(13.) If you do not know how to handle a situation in a mod-sit, what do you do? - If I am truly confused about handling any particular situation in a mod-sit, I will use my better judgment to contain and alleviate the situation until I figure out an appropriate, concrete punishment. I will likely contact other staff members for their opinions on the matter and I will ask the higher-ups for assistance if I am truly unconfident in my ability to handle the situation.
(14.) You understand and realize, that by applying for staff on the server also means, that you are sacrificing the complete freedom of being able to RP freely all the time without any interruptions, and are obligated to handle all server issues at hand no matter the situation? - Absolutely. I understand that becoming a moderator will be a sacrifice to my playtime, but I'm confident in my ability to balance my moderator duties with my roleplay and that being a moderator will make my experience more engaging.
(15.) Please make a list of all previous staff applications, a link to them, and the reason they were locked. If they were accepted, please give a short explanation of why you are no longer staff. (Disregard if this is your first application) -

+1 Pizzeh was one of my officers when I came into the 212th, and I can easily speak to his ability to educate players on the server as to how to play by the rules, RP properly, and obey staff and RP leaders. Easy to get along with and straightforward, think he would make a great addition to the team. Also the honesty is respectable as to his past on other GMod servers.

This is a fat +1 from me. Pizzeh is mature, hard working, and responsible.

By far one of the best officer I had worked with. very mature and likes to get stuff done definitely a +1
-Major Nickel a major failure

Through my time with Pizzeh in the 212th, I was able to observe how he handles certain situations and come up with solutions to certain problems. He's unbiased and fair when dealing with his troopers and fellow players on the server. He's a very outgoing, determined, loyal, and mindful guy. A great guy to be around, he loves to joke around but is serious when needed. Possibly one of the best applicants I've seen in a minute.

Damn man, didn't see this coming, but I frankly see no reason not to +1 you. You're active, dedicated, know the rules and generally one of the best people to spend time with. I personally think you'd make a great moderator and look forwards to seeing you become part of our staff team. Let's hope you can still find time for krunker at night though.

Good luck with your app!
