Halo Staff Manager Application: Plaguey

#1
(1.) What is your SteamID and your Steam URL? - STEAM_0:1:97938535 & https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198156142799/

(1a) What is your most common name for the SBS community? - Plague / Donut

(1b.) How old are you? - 20

(2.) What position are you applying for? - Halo RP Staff Manager

(3.) When did you first join our server and how did you discover it? - I joined Hogwarts and on March 19th, 2019 I joined the halo server. (due to me finding a halo server with the same label as the Hogwarts server).

(4.) Community staff must be active at a higher standard when compared to staff, do you understand that you may be let go for inactivity? - Yes. and I am active on the Halo server.

(5.) Tell us about yourself and why you want to be staff on SBS? (100 words or less) - I have held a gm role on the halo server twice and a moderator role once. I have been a Staff Manager previously on three servers. Two being Star Wars RP Servers and the other being a Resident Evil Rp server. I have been around in Halo RP for a long while and I want to help even more than I currently am.

(6.) What do you feel you need to improve on the most? - I am pretty strict on time management and I could be a bit more forgiving.

(7.) How would having you on staff benefit our server and what sets you apart from the rest of the applicants? - Well for one, you'd still have a Staff Manager. But I am also a Staff Manager with experience, time, and loyalty/respect for the server and its players.

(8.) Have you been staff/are currently on any other servers? If so, which ones? (List them if possible) - I am only staff on [SBS Halo RP]

(9.) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (EX: Patience, response time, etc) - I would give myself at least an eight. This is due to my work over the weekends. But I still hop on while at work due to a lack of activity in my workplace.

(10.) Please make a list of all previous staff applications, a link to them, and the reason they were locked. If you are no longer Staff on any SBS server(s), please give a short explanation of why you are no longer staff. (Disregard if this is your first application) -

First GM Application: https://starbystargaming.com/showthread?tid=5730 Locked due to acceptance
Second GM Application: https://starbystargaming.com/showthread?tid=13351 Locked due to acceptance
Time as Moderator had no Application. I was switched to it by choice.

(11.) (Optional) Provide examples of situations you would handle in the position you are applying for here and how you would handle them. -

Well with my past experience, I have had to deal with GMs who A. Could not come up with events and B. Needed help improving their events due to negative feedback. For those GMs, I had given them ideas and advice that the current player base had enjoyed and once they got used to and bored with that, you would switch to the next most wanted event. It is a matter of LISTENING to the player base and hearing what THEY want.

When it comes to Moderators, my main problem was getting them to act on rule-breaking situations instead of leaving it to the poor RP Police to deal with. There is a certain line that a Moderator has to jump on for. So I made sure the moderators knew where that line was and when they needed to act on it. Basically, clearing up any confusion. I also had to make sure they were doing their job, which required me to be active on the server and watching.

Plague, from when we would talk I do not know much about you, but reading your application makes me think you would be a good choice. However I would like you to possibly show me what you could do as a Staff Manager, so for now I am going with a Neutral.

hey plague, just got a few questions for you to answer.

1. How would you take command of the staff team and ensure they follow you as an example?

2. How would you help a game maker who has good ideas but terrible execution during their events? (getting sidetracked/overwhelmed/upset at the players)

3.  if you did obtain the position could you give 5 or more objectives/ or goals you would want to achieve to improve the staff team.

4. Personalised question:
how would you deal with reports of a game maker who is arguing with players over how their event was meant to be executed.

Thanks and try to provide as much detail as possible :)

Well first off, you can't be a Head or a leader without the trust and good opinion of your team. So I would insure that I am strictly there to make sure the GameMakers are managed in the ways of event claims, quotas, event ideas, and help them out in any way possible. And for the Moderators you would need to be there to watch how they do sits and tell them tips on how to do certain things. Let's say a moderator pulls a minge into a sit and for some reason the Moderator can not complete their duties, I would come in and assit helping them in anyway necessary. But when there is a leader/head there is a need of authority. So they still need to know your the boss. Make sure they do their jobs, make sure they meet their quotas, make sure they are actually doing sits, make sure the entire playerbase is happy, and most importantly dish out punishments for those who need it.

2. How would you help a game maker who has good ideas but terrible execution during their events? (getting sidetracked/overwhelmed/upset at the players) Well, there is nothing wrong with a GM needing help, so I would subtract myself from the event to help spawn, build, act, and just all around assist the GM. Maybe if a GM is on and their battalion does not have a set task I could pull them aside and have them help as well (This goes for anyother available staff as well). They agreed to not being able to RP at times when they became a GM. So with two helpers, the GM should be in a MUCH better position.

3.  if you did obtain the position could you give 5 or more objectives/ or goals you would want to achieve to improve the staff team.

1) Make sure the entire staff team is doing their parts and more (EX: Helping other staff members when needed)
2) Make sure the events the GMs are pushing out have at least some likeable qualities. The last thing we need is an unhappy playerbase.
3) Make sure the staff team KNOWS how to do their jobs. This would require communication between Mods, GMs, Admins, Staff Manager, and General Manager. It is the staff TEAM after all.
4) Look over previous training documents to see if anything needs to be updated. The server is updating thank to the General Manager and Zubey, so we need to make sure the training documents are up to date with said updates. (EX: New AI and how to use them)
5) Lay down the law on inactivity. Being on LOA is one thing but being inactive is truly something the staff team does not need. Recently there has been an large amount of LOA Staff members, but some have yet to update their LOA. Which means they need to be checked up on. If someone is available and wants to get on the server, it would be highly appreciated. So basically, keep a list up to date on who is on loa and when that ends. Kind of like a Hotel check out crew.

4. Personalised question:
how would you deal with reports of a game maker who is arguing with players over how their event was meant to be executed.
Well, thats the thing about events. There is no way of telling if it will go the way you plan. The GMs will just have to improvise, adapt, and overcome. A GameMaker should not be arguing with a player during or after an event unless a server/community rule has been broken. A GameMaker should be taught in training on how far an event can go off script.  Lord knows I know how that feels.

Out of the 3 current candidates, I believe you are the most beneficial one. I've spoken at length about issues with the server and have been met with nothing but positivity from Plague. He has shown me his dedication and drive to keep the heart of this server beating. +1 from me.

+1 In all honesty between all three candidates I feel like you would be the best fit as you are reasonable and rational after talking to you for a while on certain occasions you are calm and collected and I feel like that would make you a great staff manager.

Kelval has kind of already beat me to asking some questions i was going ask, however there are
some other questions that i have for you as well. Since i will be sticking around to make sure the
next Staff Manager has everything they need in order to just put their attention into what they
wish to improve about the staff team. With that in mind and remember what Kelval said
Answer in as much detail as you can.

1. What are your main goals if you were to get Staff Manager.

2. From your past experiences, where would you begin with the staff team as it stands.

3. What area do you feel that you need to improve the most on.

4. Is there any part of the current system, that you feel needs revamping and why.

5. What are your biggest strengths that will set you aside from the other applicants, besides your past experience.

6. Will you be able to set aside personal issues and do everything you do based on logic and reasoning. (aka evidence)

Added new question.

Depending on your answers, there might be more questions and good luck with your application.

My main goal if I were to get Staff Manager would be to maintain the staff team's activity and efficiency.
-I would want to see Moderators and Admins making sure the server's players are following the rules and keeping peace on the server.
-I would want to see Gamemakers and Admins to push out quality events that would hopefully not have a feedback under 3, and to keep the playerbase entertained. There should be passives, off map events, campaigns, and smaller on base activites.
-I would want to see Admins overseeing Moderators and Gamemakers doing their share of work alongside the Staff Manager.
-And most importanly I would like there to be communication throughout each and every part of the Staff team. GMs should talk with Mods, Mods should talk to GMs, and Admins/Staff Manager should be speaking with both. There is a reason it is called a Staff TEAM. It will require serious cooperation and teamwork.

2. From your past experiences, where would you begin with the staff team as it stands.
Honestly, Moderators are pretty alright (Just minor tweaking) so my attention would be pushed towards GameMakers. There is a certain problem with certain GameMakers who see Quantity more important than Quality. And then there are some who are the complete opposite who work hard for one event then can't meet their quota. Not to mention all of the GMs who are on LOA or are on low activity. So, my major focus would be on the GameMakers at the beginning.

3. What area do you feel that you need to improve the most on.
Another thing I would want to improve on (that isn't mentioned in the original application), I could be a bit more serious. As of lately I have been more of a joking person. An example would be the extremely loud microphone. I am going to have to get over using that and just practically become more of a serious person than I currently am.

4. Is there any part of the current system, that you feel needs revamping and why.
The only things that come to mind is we need more interactable maps and better working NPC. But that would be out of my jurisdiction due to the LACK of coding/developing I know.  The maps we have currently have minimal interactability. When a player is on a new map, they would want to explore and find new things they can use to their advantage for a much more creative and fun experience on SBS Halo RP. And the NPCs we have currently for Innies are a bit broken but yet again, that is out of my hands (From what I know.)

5. What are your biggest strengths that will set you aside from the other applicants, besides your past experience.
Well definitly my strength to be able to talk to people and get to know them. You would want to build a level of trust and respect with your fellow staff. But also I have the strength of not being afraid to tell people how it is. If someone isn't cut out for the position, then they shouldn't have it or they should try to be better.

Another strength would be my creativity when it comes to events. Sometimes the same point and shoot events get old, so what needs to be done is there needs to be a splash of originality and creativity. For my events I have done on this server I try to give people a small break from the regular Covenant/Innie shootout missions and have missions that the player can explore and learn from. You are going to want to leave a lasting impression on the playerbase so they always come back for your events.

And for my final strength I will list, it would be my willingness to learn and put what I learn to the test. I learned most of my Event tips from Barry from when he was still here, and I still use these tips to this very day. So, I look forward to my possible training of Staff Manager and to use what I learn to better the server.

Of course. If there is anything that is not needed in a staff team is a bias leader. Every situation should be solved with nothing but evidence, logic, reasoning, and the LITERAL rules of the server/community. Nobody should truly be let off the hook due to personal feelings of a staff member. It is not right and unfair to the general playerbase that can not/ do not recieve the same treatment.

Out of all current applicants you have the most experience in the job having done it several times for other servers.

I personally feel you could do great as a staff manager.
