The State Of Clone Wars.

So I am going to structure this into two parts. First, my concerns then second my suggestion on how to fix it. I feel this is something that should be openly discussed among the players.

To Begin.

My first topic will be about Officers. As I have been playing on the server actively I have come to a lot of conclusions and discussed my feelings with fellow players who feel the same way. As some of you may know a lot of players resigned from their positions for their own reasons and it left a huge sort of power vacuum. This vacuum needed to be filled urgently. So the obvious answer to such a problem was to rush people into an officer position to help fill this gap and get battalions back in order. Now to be fair this solution was correct, as it fixed a short-term problem. As a result, though the short-term fix created a long-term problem which was the gradual decrease of officer standards. This isn't to discredit the individuals who were a part of this fix as it's not at all their fault. It would be purely idiotic to blame them for the situation as they simply jumped at the chance of being an officer like anyone else would in their position. Now to get back on topic I feel the officers were taught leadership in a rushed state and given lackluster training. More on the lines of "Give orders and pretend you have good tactics" and the rest you workout on your own, which is good don't get me wrong but it just doesn't work for everyone. Everyone needs to fail to get better but it seems officers keep failing and then never having anyone show or explain how to be better. The officers are not equipped with the skillsets they need, to be good leaders they have no one to look up to.

When we look back at SBS and look at officers we had Corgi,Dac,Comet,Lee,Terminator,Astro,Mcree, and a few others I can't name purely because I can't remember LMAO. These Officers were respected and when it came to doing their job they did their job like a motherfucker and lead by example which made me as a player think holy shit these guys are the real McCoy and made me want to actively get better as a player.

I feel CWRP now lacks such respectable characters that leave such an imprint on your gameplay. Other officers were forced to be better purely because of your colleague's reputation which was a good environment to help other officers learn from each other and get better. I feel current SBS Officers lack all of this however I will make a few exceptions I feel Dalton is very capable at his job and when it comes time to RP he takes it very seriously. A few others will be the ARC leads purely just because when I do see them, they take control and they lead how you would expect an ARC Officer to lead although I am confused about how the Major General role works I assume he is the Marshal Commander.

The officers have so much potential but no one is showing them the way they are just getting stuck at dead ends and failing and then people start hating on them for being incapable, which then discourages them to play and put in the effort and then try to lead events because they are too scared about being criticized.

The whole structure of the Army seems flawed and currently, I see that even now people are quickly promoting people so they can fill the power gap when certain people leave.

To sum this section up the officer standards has lowered because of higher RP management.

TO FIX THIS

Now I could say the obvious and hope Corgi or Conn come back and somehow pull a magical plan out of their Ass and save us all. (I wish).

But to be logical to fix the problem let's address the officer standards:

I feel the Officers need to be evaluated thoroughly to see what their skills lack in. I am sure A10 has already done this but I feel a more extensive evaluation would be appropriate where we test officers in certain situations such as in stressful situations where they are managing multiple troopers and each trooper is telling them information and suggesting a course of action and seeing how they react and if they break down or feed through the bullshit and step up as a leader and create solid orders. Also, another proposition is creating situations and ask how they would solve the situation by giving them battlefield situations and see how they would maximize effective tactics. Now, this is a small improvement that might already be incorporated by A10 but I have yet to see such action. Another fix is just forcing every officer to lead whole operations for example getting a 2nd Lieutenant to lead a whole server event. From that he/she/they can be evaluated to see how they perform if they break under the pressure and also if every order they give is logical if not give them feedback on what they did wrong/right and how to improve it. Some may say this already happens but most of the time I just see other officers intervening so the responsibility isn't entirely on the officer in question. All responsibility needs to be on that one officer to make this exercise effective. Now also I feel harsher punishments should be given to officers which A10 is in fact doing. As I feel all Officers should be serious and play a convincing RP Character while also being respectful to other people as some people who are given officership have a feeling of entitlement and elitism thinking they are better than others I feel that should be something that should not occur it might not be as prevalent as I am thinking but it's definitely something that should be taken into account.

I feel that I haven't covered every avenue to improve the officers but hopefully, this discussion will raise improvements for the officers and suggestions. I wish I could be the one with all the answers but I am not.

Now, none of this means let's demote the officers. They were promoted in that place so they deserve to be taught the right skills to be able to fulfill the role effectively.  A10 is doing a decent job as from my perspective he was sort of forced into the position as there was a lack of Marshal Commander for so long so props to himself for that.

I also feel that the Marshal Commander should be more open with everyone and tell people what he is doing and the plans they have in place. So people know what is going on the biggest problem with SBS is communication among the higher-ups and the lower players. Opening up communication would prove many benefits.

Now I don't want this post to make it look like CW is a desolate wasteland with terrible officers and so on because it's not that but I think there needs to be a clear effort to improve the quality of all officers and get them up to standard.

What worries me about these new updates is they are cool and will keep players interested for a few weeks but the officer's leadership, sims, and so on will keep the players engaged for longer. There is no point having let's say really awesome models and weapons if there aren't capable officers and GMs that keep you engaged. (From what GMs I have seen they do keep me engaged I mean I miss paradyce, ether, and all that but the GMs are fine just more events probably)

I have spoken to a few people and they feel the same way as I. I thought this was something that needed to be raised and discussed with the community. The conversation will raise solutions and the higher management can pick apart what's been said and plan an appropriate fix. Some of this post might be so out of touch and I could be completely wrong so if so, I do apologize.

EDIT: A great place to start with fixing issues is asking me questions. This did not occur prior to this posting.

I want to flesh this a bit more, actually.

Nobody was "forced" into any position, and your assumption/outright accusation that it did happen reflects your lack of scope on the situation. I am happy to host a community meeting on all of these topics and make sure that we are all on the same page. I believe that communication is important and I am happy to facilitate this. I do need to firmly insist that most of the assumptions made on the state of the server are incomplete if at all informed.

I should have reiterated in my post which is completely my fault. By "Forced" I didn't mean quite literally, I meant it more as A10 who is obviously qualified for such a role. Noticed that the role had been absent for so long and realized it was time to step up and take charge. So the "forced" was more about the fact that no one well trained enough for the position was stepping up for Marshal Commander, so it was more of an obligatory action on his part because of his care for the server. You are right about the assumption and I do apologize that is purely unprofessional on my part.
However, I am glad you replied and I think a community meeting would be the best course of action. I wish nothing but improvement for the server. As it said in the post all "opinions" that are noted down are purely my own, however after discussing with other community members they feel the same way. Regarding questioning yourself I am very hesitant to do so.

I appreciate your response and want you to know that I am as committed to improving CWRP as you are. Let's get talking and find some common ground soon. I will also give you some life advice as a peer and what may hopefully be a friend in the future: as a staff member, it behooves you to raise concerns to management prior to airing a concern out like this. We are here for you and would have loved to help give you context before raising a public concern. At the end of the day we are all here to make this a fun, inclusive experience.

Again I do apologize for the unprofessionalism on my part. I wasn't privy to such information but of course, now that you have told me I will tread more carefully in the future. I do hope to have a spirited conversation on the matter as this post was made to improve certain areas of the server to make them more enjoyable. Obviously, the server has progressed forwards and changed in many ways and I guess I might just need to change with the server. However looking past this I do think there is valid room to discuss the previous topics mentioned in the original post.
