Why do mods monitor the kill feed waiting for stuff to happen?

#11
Exactly as Ophelia said, considering I was already dealing with sits back to back, I wouldn't have noticed, but the names kept popping up in feed. I get having fun, but yes in the end rules are rules

You broke Rule 3. Plain and simple.

The "I was with my friend" statement is the most common excuse that any player generally use. Mostly everyone gets it, it's fine to horse around but know the limitations of what you guys can do. If you guys wanna freespell each other, go for it, but if your engaging in an event where your using damage spells against each other in a method that's not valid RP. Then it's RDM, students are not allowed to attack each other with damage spells.

Believing that it should be reported is completely silly.

It's not an "excuse". It's a simple fact. The only person it affected was somebody who didn't care. Like I said earlier, making something that isn't a problem into a problem is a terrible way to keep players around

Of course it's an excuse, you're literally using it as an excuse right now. It is "simple fact" that people use that excuse all the time. You can ask any staff member lol or long time player. Saying that "it affected somebody who didn't care" is the poorest reasoning to justify a rule violation (Which you caused).

You've already been given your reasoning by a staff member regarding your argument which has been answered. No point in really continuing this discussion since it's already been resolved.

At this point you're just kicking a dead horse.

To me, it sounds like you just started playing on the server and you must be year 3 by now.

My suggestion? Tell your buddy to play on snatcher job and you play on Ministry Investigator job (both are year 3 jobs) and go to the QP, you two can
fight each other there because it's a PVP zone where LF vs DF can fight without problem. Though, you two must respect NLR rule which means
you cannot come back to the same place you died for 200 seconds and if Quidditch is in session, then fight at Hagrid's Hut.

So yeah, my extra two cents for you. I get you two wanna have fun but rules are rules. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nope, I was year 7 before the prestige system came out and reset the ranks. I played a ton on the old map. I'm year 6 now.

Never before have I seen the mods pick people out of the kill feed to pull into a sit. If people had a problem with somebody else, they used @ to sent a report in, then a sit happened.

As a fellow player I understand your frustration, maybe you join wth your friends and start shooting spells at them and no one complains and you guys having fun and then all of a sudden you get pulled into a sit and you get upset about it. We have all been there, at least I have.

However, from own experience when I joined other gmod servers, the same thing happens, and you have to find ways to have fun without breaking rules, even if the rules are not rules in your opinion, or even if you think that those rules are stupid and should not exist in the first place, or that admins should be more chilled when it comes to certain rules if no one reports it.

At the same time, you have to understand that staff are just doing their jobs in order to prevent the server from falling into chaos. If everyone joins the server alongside their friends and start shooting spells and rdming each other, then it is not a roleplay server, but a battle royale game.

My suggestion: find a player in a teacher role ingame, and tell them to supervise a duel between you and your friend. The courtyard in front of the Great Hall (near the stairs that you have to climb when you spawn everytime you join the map) is a great place to have a duel and have fun at the same time, but even in a duel you can not rdm the other player, you can spells such as verdimillious and damage the other student until he/she has 20 HP. But remember, have a teacher present so that you guys can duel without a prefect sending you to detention for skipping class.

Then, as another guy said, you and your friend can switch jobs (light force vs dark force) and have a fight with one another in the Quiditch Pitch (whenever class is not active), and you have to respect NLR (New Life Rule) in that case which lasts I believe 200 seconds or 220 seconds (if you switch to dark force and you go into the graveyard location, you can check the duration of the NLR there = it is written on the wall).

And maybe on some gmod servers, RDM is not considered as RDM if no one reports it, but in this server, it works differently than that, and one has to adapt and follow the rules, even if one disagrees or dislikes them.

Nonetheless, I completely understand your concerns, but in this instance admins are not in the wrong.

Another advice I could give to you is to create a feedback post here on the forums and explain your concerns, give creative suggestions as to what could be improved or changed and why, and I am sure some members of the community (at least staff) would be happy to read over it and share their points of view with you.

When you leave the boathouse, you agree to our rules. It doesn't matter if it was just with a friend and no one reports it, it still breaks the rules that you agreed to when you went past the sign and up the stairs from the boathouse.

The simple answer to your issue is, just don't break rule 3 and you won't get in trouble. We have a duelling club and duelling area for when duelling club is not active with rules in place where you can fight your friend or do a clash WITHOUT killing them and breaking server rules. This is a roleplay server and it is fail rp to kill another student as a student at Hogwarts. It's very easy to understand.

It seems a lot of you are misunderstanding my point.

The problem isn't that I got pulled into a sit. The problem isn't that I got warned. The problem is that something that wasn't a problem at all, and didn't get reported or seen by anybody other than us 2 got us pulled into a sit. It literally affected nobody negatively at all.

I just think the mods should be solving actual problems, not creating problems to solve.

I'll probably make a feedback thread.
