it's recommended you put forward your view and any suggestions you have!
Find it here.

@Etlenor has an explosive event happening on Friday! Find the details here.

Due to recent difficulty and gameplay confusions hanging on the bridge by herbology is no longer permitted.
If this is seen to be a crucial loss,
it will be re-evaluated. This is being done to prevent confusion over dark force reveals.

The Duelling Club rules are also being tested with a change,
verdimillous is now not regarded as a duelling spell.
This is being done to prevent accidental RDM's.
This is only a trial, it is possible it will be changed back.

We will be doing 2 trials in attempts to balance the guitarist.
From now until May 26th the Guitarist will only be permitted to play acoustic instrumentals or electric guitar instrumentals, no other instruments and no vocals. The player may sing with their own voice within reason.

After this we will try another suggestion.

At the end of both trial the team and the community will decide what worked best!

As a side note: Gamemakers no longer have restrictions on when they can and can't do large events,
so hopefully expect more of those more frequently in the future!

@david has a lovely story to read! Find it here.

@Ryte Lionheart has finished uploading his "Kitchen Nightmares" Episode which was hosted on server, find it here!

[Image: https://c.tenor.com/y6f4d1Gon2cAAAAi/aesthetic.gif]We love including threads from the community! If you wish to be included, make a suitable roleplay thread here![Image: https://c.tenor.com/y6f4d1Gon2cAAAAi/aesthetic.gif]

That's all for this week! Thank you for reading!

(We also apologise for these bulletins coming so late into the week, there's been a lot to unpack this time around!)

So following a bit of feedback from the thread I posted earlier and some personal reflection, I’ve decided to implement a new way to allow the community to have a more direct input on the performance of trial staff. What will happen is, as community members, you may give your own feedback on any active trial staff members which will be read out to the team at the meeting prior to voting on said trial. This will be done with a google form that will be updated every week (to reflect active trials) to be put into bulletins, with options to remain anonymous or public to the team. Only I have access to the document, so you can rest assured that you will have anonymity if you’ve requested. You can put in a vote, and leave both positive and negative feedback as you see fit, as well as the option to attach evidence. KEEP IN MIND THAT AS PLAYERS, YOUR WORD IS NOT EVIDENCE SO IF YOU HAVE FEEDBACK (specifically negative), IT WILL BE FAR MORE CREDIBLE WITH A CLIP/SCREENSHOT. Erin has attached the google form above.

I also want to throw out 2 disclaimers about this process
  1. This system is currently in a trial. I want to see how it goes for a few weeks, collect feedback from both players & staff before fully implementing it. If I decide it’s been a positive addition, then I will make a full announcement on it along with some other things I’ve been planning. If this system is used to witch hunt trial staff (ie. people looking to get them in trouble by following them around 24/7, it will be removed).
  2. I also want to emphasize that while your feedback may influence staff’s voting/my decision to pass/fail someone, it will not COUNT as a vote like a staff member’s vote would.
Hope this change is welcome!

Why be vague to the community about the reason it was changed?  What recent difficulties and confusions brought about this change?  Seems like it is only difficult or confusing for the staff member that would have to explain to someone that this is allowed.  More and more restrictions being put on the player base as of late.

As well as no more "dueling" in dueling club?  Might as well change the name to clashing club honestly.  These changes seem more like staff are just trying to make things easier on themselves rather than making things fun for the player base.  You're literally changing mechanics that have been around since the creation of the server to make things easier for yourselves.  If you're going to keep this as a thing, the Duelia spell from The Spell Scholar custom needs to be a server spell so people can still duel.

Edit: How can the bridge thing be a problem with DF reveals? It's no different than pinning your snatch anywhere else other than the bridge. @Erin Sinclair I'm not directly questioning you on this, I'm just trying to point out the flaws in the logic of this change. If the confusion about DF reveals is the issue than how is it any different than just pinning them somewhere else. I think this was an oversight and there should honestly be a lot more thought and critical thinking that goes into decisions regarding rules changes and changing the way things work.

Hey! The reason for this rule change was added in a previous draft but taken out after a new version was drafted, it was just taken out by mistake, it has been added in though. Thanks!

Edit: The Duelling Club rule is also only being trialed currently for a week. Thanks! (Added in also)

Clarification provided.

All fair points, we are trying a lot
of different things to see what will work better whether it be all DF in the area are revealed or making it so you must go to the forest or QP without pinning anywhere else.
This is not a permanent change as I said and will get looking into. Feedback from you guys helps as it gets updated!

Just throwing something out there, why not ask the community about what they’d like to see or what they think needs to be changed? If players really are the priority that staff are here to help (almost every staff applicant stated this to be the case) then let them have a say instead of making retarded decisions behind closed doors. Shit like ‘having to stay on Hogsmeade for 24 hours when we switch’ is actively killing the playerbase and, as Reggie stated, these recent changes do clearly seem to be made in order to make things easier for staff members? If RDM during duelling club is an issue have a staff member watch over the class; staff are supposed to watch over active classes where appropriate anyway yet they almost never do. As a result of that you have like 5 kids dying to HW every class. The guitarist change is actually nice, but it took months of community complaining to see something happen.

Tl;Dr listen to the community and let them have more of a say. As @Pierre has already acknowledged the staff team and general playerbase are very disconnected at the moment, and honestly this change might help to close that gap

No hanging from the bridge is a rule that should stay and I think this was a long time coming.

I think the final straw for this rule was because there were about 5-7 brand new players being hanged from the bridge all at once.
Some of them were being resnatched over and over and left there for most of the 10 minute timer.

These 1st, 2nd and 3rd years were spending 10 minutes dangling from a bridge every 20 minutes while being laughed at by the older players on their DF custom jobs, a few left because of it and I don't think they came back, I don't blame them.

I think that kind of behaviour is a bit of a bad look for the server and can promote bullying.
