Applicants Steam ID - STEAM_0:0:497072597

(1.) Do you agree to and accept the Volunteer Staff Application Terms & Conditions? If so, please answer with "Yes, I do agree and accept these terms and conditions." - Yes, I do agree and accept these terms and conditions.

(1a) What is your most recent or commonly known in-game name or alias? - Larissa Biscuit.

(1b) What is your current acuity level in-game? (MUST be at least Acuity 7 to apply.) - Prestige 8 Acuity 4.

(1c) List any alternative Steam accounts you may have - N/A

(2.) In which time zone do you reside? - NZDT

(2a) Please provide the hours of the day that you are the most active on the Galaxy of Magic server according to CST (Chicago, US), so the managers and staff know when they can expect to see you. - Mostly between 12:00pm-5:00am CST which is 5:00pm-10:00pm my time.

(3.) What is your age? - 24

(4.) Approximately, when was the first time that you joined our Galaxy of Magic server and how did you initially discover it? - I started playing on the HWRP server almost 2 years ago. I saw a YouTube video that featured the server and had to give it a try.

(4a) How can we be certain that you will remain active on the server upon being accepted for a volunteer staffing position? - I am always active, I log in almost every day and having a staffing position would only increase my activity. During my trial as GM I logged in every day. I have always been interested in Mythology and am excited to see where the server is heading.

(4b) Do you understand that you can be let go at any time for excessive inactivity at our discretion? - Yes.

(5.) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with, but also enforce the rules of the server when necessary? - Yes

(5a) Please explain each of the main server rules and what they each mean, to convey to us that you understand and comprehend them wholly.

1. No fail RP: Fail RP is doing something that your RP character would not do. This can involve anything such as helping Void while playing Celestial, force revealing to PVP and breaking job boundaries.

2. Be respectful: Disrespect within RP is allowed but if you find yourself questioning if what you are about to do or say to another player is crossing the line then it would be best just to not do or say it.

Hatespeech also comes under Rule 2 and is taken very seriously. Do not say anything racist or anything of the sort as it is not allowed on the server.

3. No RDM: Do not kill other players without an RP reason to do so. You cannot kill Void that are not revealed and you cannot kill Celestial while in their safe zones, doing so can also come under Rule 1.

4. Obey staff and RP leaders: You must obey your RP leaders, not doing so may result in detainment if you are a student but if you do not follow this rule as a job with more responsibility you may get in trouble. If your RP leader is telling you to do something while a staff member OOC is telling you otherwise then you must follow the staff members instructions.

5. No free-spelling: Casting spells without an RP reason to do so may result in you being detained, if you are playing as an unarrestable job you are not allowed to free-spell at all.

6. No metagaming: Do not use knowledge you yourself know that your in game character would not. Examples of metagaming is using a players job title to determine whether they are Void or not, using the chat to ask for help while snatched and even using some server rules to give yourself an advantage can be considered metagaming.

7. Do not mic spam or chat spam: Playing music through your mic is mic spam, screaming and making excessive noise through your mic is also not allowed. Playing audio clips of any kind and even poor mic quality can be considered mic spam.

Chat spam is posting excessive traffic into the chat. Having a long conversation while typing is not chat spam but if you continuously spam to grab attention or to annoy then you are chat spamming.

8. Telemail is for RP purposes only: Telemail is used to stand out from OOC chat and is used for RP not casual conversation. Examples of proper TM will be advertising the sale of a student, informing students to attend class and what spell they are getting, reason for detainment and for events.

9. No ERP: Erotic roleplay is not allowed on the server. Doing anything of the sort will result in detainment and continuing to act inappropriate may result in warns/kicks/bans.

10. No exploiting or cheating of any kind: Do not use something not for its intended purpose, glitching out of the map and even visual glitches that offer no advantage are considered exploiting.

(6.) Tell us a little about yourself and why you would like to be accepted for a volunteer staffing position on SBS. (100 words or less) - I have always loved creating things and this server is the best way for me to do this. I find it incredibly satisfying making a build or hosting an event and hearing that people enjoyed it.

(7.) In your opinion, which quality of yourself do you feel that you need to improve on the most? - Going off my previous time as trial GM it would definitely have to be my confidence. I would always get very anxious before doing an event and I found myself often waiting until it was late in the evening and the server was at lower pop before doing an event.
This caused me to struggle at organising large scale events or hosting events with a large server pop.

(7a) In your opinion, which skill set of yours do you feel that you need to improve on the most? - Multi-tasking. Again, during my trial I would get a bit flustered during an event and make mistakes such as forgetting to reset classes or inform event participants of an important event specific rule. To improve on this I will have slower build ups for my events where I can iron out all of the creases before the actual event begins.

(8.) How would having you on our volunteer staff team benefit our server and what qualities set you apart from the rest of the applicants? - I am very active and passionate about the server, I love design and I am always thinking about the next thing to build. I put great care into anything that I create and ensure it is clean and perfect, I spend a lot of my spare time building, each build that I make is able to be used for multiple purposes. My events have a bit of a dark theme to them which people tend to enjoy and they are mostly oriented and catered to allow for the involvement of everyone on the server if they choose to attend.

(9.) Have you ever previously maintained a game server staffing position, or currently are, on any other Garry's Mod servers? If so, which ones, and in which staffing positions? (List them if possible) - N/A.

(10.) Have you ever previously been banned on any Garry's Mod or SBS servers? If yes, then please list approximately when, how long, and the reasoning(s). - N/A.

(11.) In your opinion, are the server staff or the players of more importance? Why? - They are equally important, without the players the server is less interesting and without staff the server can become chaotic and unfun.

(12) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (E.g., patience, response time, etc.) -

Patience 10 - I am a very patient person and when I am dealing with difficult people or situations it takes a lot to get me even close to being angry.

Response Time 7 - My response time in regards to sits is very quick but I would say 7 because if I was busy with passive RP or building I would be slower. I did not take sits during my trial while an event was ongoing unless it was serious or event related and I would probably remain that way.

Compassion 10 - When people have come to me with their problems I always take them seriously. I can see where each side is coming from in arguments and misunderstandings and find that I can resolve these situations easily because I can understand them.

Creativity 8 - I can find a story in almost anything, many of my event ideas are from listening to music.

Approachable 9 - Players I do not know or have just met often talk to me which I am very happy about. I play on this server to have fun and there is no point in excluding anyone from that.

Moderating 8 - I took sits as Trial GM and I will continue to do so. As Helper I also learned a lot and found where I sit in regards to strictness, I am relaxed and do not issue bans just because the player has reached the warning threshold.

Originality 8 - I feel like my event ideas are original but there is definitely a theme that all of my events seem to sit under. I struggle to to have a wide variety of events gameplay-wise but I do always have new ideas for the style that I do have.

(13.) On a scale from 1 to 10, how familiar are you with Garry's Mod's default tools, context menus, and utility menus? - Probably 8/10. I have spent a lot of time in sandbox learning new things while building but there is always something to learn and always a new problem I need to figure out how to get around. I have asked others to teach me tips on how to build and I have also taught others and given tips on how to build.

(14.) Provide us with at least two detailed examples of events that you would orchestrate and how you would proceed with organizing, operating, and constructing them. - My events are listed in the Google document below. I wrote these events down a long time ago as I was planning to apply earlier but have been busy with IRL stuff. Events with HP themes to them have not been updated, they are all still compatible and just require some simple changes to work on the current server.

I am slowly going through all of my events to update them for the current server.

(15.) Do you have any prior experience using ULX administrative system or sandbox building on Garry's Mod? - Yes.

(16.) You both understand and realize, that by applying for a volunteer staffing position on the server, you are sacrificing the complete freedom of being able to role-play and or socialize freely all the time without any interruptions, and are obligated to handle all server issues and or volunteer staff position tasks at hand no matter the situation and to the best of your abilities? - Yes.

(17.) Please provide a list of all previous volunteer staff applications, provide a link to them if possible, and list any reasons why they may have been locked. If they were previously accepted, please provide a short explanation of why you are no longer volunteer staff at the time of this application. (Disregard if this is your first application) - Helper x3 (requires renewal monthly) - Trial Gamemaker, Failed trial.

I'm not opposed to giving you a second shot Larissa, I'm also one who failed their first trial, (granted it was Moderator) and there are other staff members both past and present who have had rickety histories and made it onto the team. What I would have liked to see however is it a little more acknowledgement of the feedback you were given during your trial and how you will work to improve upon it, things such as

Overloading the server with builds, many of which had a lot of small details and were a hub for lag/lower FPS,

The allowing of large and disrupting builds/vehicles within the school and near classrooms, disrupting the class and causing quite a bit of unnecessary chaos,

A lack of a forum event,

Changing other staff members builds without permission,

A lack of cooperation/communication with other staff members

Besides that, you've been helpful as a helper when needed and are also willing to help put forward your own methods or ideas for on server builds.

+ I would have hoped the event document would have been more fleshed out with the events switched around to fit the subjects of the server, when it comes to making an application, patience in making sure everything is the best you can make it be presented from the get-go is key.

Again, not against a second shot.

The one event that you did during you last trail was the most unorganized shit ive ever been apart of on server. It was just 2 hours of mass rdm and the new players couldn't do anything since it was based at the QP.
Alongside that all you did was just spawn fucking boats that flew or something. I never once saw you lead a passive event besides one of those builds.
Speaking Of, How many events did you do during your trial? This is a genuine question and not supposed to be a Jab.

Larissa is a very good member of the community, and even after reading the criticisms presented in this thread, I believe she deserves a 2nd chance.

Honestly I loved Larissa's builds I thought her builds were some of the best tbh,

Larissa is active ALOT of the time on the server which is a HUGE +

I do agree there were a few lag issues with the builds but toning it down wouldn't be that hard..

HUGE +1 for Larissa

Sorry for the late reply I just got back from work. Some of the stuff said is fair and I admit to it but I would like to reply to everything and defend myself on a few things that may have been misunderstood.

Large prop heavy builds: So I loved building and I struggle to finish some things as I find there is always something for me to add or change, yes my CY build was too prop heavy and this was because I was unaware of the limitations of the server. I kept spawning in my CY build regardless of this because I was deleting props from the build to resolve this issue, by the time my trial was over I had 17 back up dupes of my CY and the 17th had half the prop count of my 10th.
I play on laptop and did not find the build laggy but others did, I was not intentionally making people lagg and I thought I was fixing the problem.

I was told to stop spawning in more than one dupe at once, I was under the impression that If I had dupes far away from each other they would not lagg the server. I stopped doing that after I was told to stop.

Disrupting classrooms: This was unintentional and happened during a passive RP event that I hosted which involved vehicles. After this happened I made a rule for all of my future vehicle based events that players were not to enter the school at all. Players entered the school anyway and were taken back outside and told their vehicles will be taken off them if they went back in.

Forum announced event: So I wasn't actually aware that I was required to do a forum announced event until the very end of my trial and by then I didn't have much time to organise it properly because I was back at work and working long hours. I also found that doing large events was a lot more difficult and stressful than I had anticipated and chose to avoid them as I thought the smaller but more frequent events that I was hosting were fine.

Lack of cooperation/communication: For the first week or two of trial I was missing some @ chat messages and this was unintentional. But towards the end of my trial I was not missing anything and I would often scroll up and check to make sure of this. I didn't argue it at the time but when I was told I continued to ignore @ chat I thought that was very unfair as sometimes I would announce I was going AFK to then come back to messages in the chat asking me to do something.

Changing others builds without permission: I was very surprised and honestly a bit hurt to hear at the end of week feedback that I was getting in trouble for doing this. When joining I was excited to work with other GMs and stuff but found that I was always doing things by myself, when I saw two staff members working on the same build I recommended 3 textures and pinged some surfaces with them. I wanted to help out some more with the build but got the social queues that they wanted to work on it together so I left. I didn't mean to get in their way or annoy them I just wanted to build with other people, yes I should have asked but I didn't think to at the time and I'm sorry for that.

How many events did I do: I did a small scale event almost every second day and if I wasn't building then I would often even do more than one event a day. I found that while I was organising and preparing for a large scale event, ideas and opportunities would come to mind to use what I had already created for a small scale event to entertain the players who are currently online. I was also given feedback that I spent too much time building so I tried to use the time that I did spend building doing passive RP or small scale events at the same time. This was difficult and caused the issue Erin mentioned.

Yes I did build boats that could fly, originally it was to test out how thrusters worked and to upgrade my boat that I built on Hogsmeade. When I wasn't doing anything I would sometimes spawn one in and people would hop on and socialise on it, I did not consider doing this an event but players kept getting disappointed when I stopped driving it so I kept going, people enjoyed it so I kept bringing the boat back.

I did about 5 large scale events which is within the requirement, I did many more medium scale events and a few small and passive RP events. I don't remember all of them or how many exactly I did, when I say 'medium event' I am talking about an event with a beginning middle and end with a goal for the players to achieve. I much preferred doing these events as there was much less pressure for if something went wrong. I also had no issues with people using their own RP selves as characters and doing their own thing to achieve the goal of the event, I was not entirely fond of forcing players into other jobs for an event when they were more happy just being themselves and if it made no real difference to the event.

The 2 hour RDM event was about 20 minutes long and it was intentionally targeted at higher level and more experienced players. The event was supposed to be difficult and a bit chaotic. I think the event gameplay-wise was fine, I know people were getting one shotted and that there were bottlenecks. There was a lot that went wrong for that event, it took me a long time to organise it but I still missed crucial things that were needed to make it good.
I learned a lot from that event and I know how to improve and what to do for any future similar events. It was my last event and my worst event which was really disappointing because I was looking forward to hosting it.
I did many events that were similar and played out fine but those events were more open and were catered to lower level players.

If I get accepted I would organise more large scale events and Forum announce some of them. Unfortunately I have always been a bit of a slow learner and I struggle to adjust to new things, being a GM was very difficult for me but I loved every moment of it. I would not waste a second chance and I think I will be much better now with all of the skills that I have learned during and after my trial.

It's very hard for me to do this considering there are only two spots left and sib is in trial right now for gamemaker. With me wanting to be gamemaker as well on this server badly too I feel like it would have been wrong not talking about how great of a fit I think you would be for this server. You are on always during the dead times and I feel like you and Gwen would be the perfect mod/GM duo during the night for our new rp server, I haven't seen your builds yet or sib's but I'm excited to see what kind of small, passive and large scale events you have in store for this new lore. I'll be giving a huge +1 on this and am looking forward to see what you can do on this server. I may or may not be taking notes when you do haha. Best of luck!
