Volunteer Staff Application Terms & Conditions
Last updated: January 20th, 2021
These Volunteer Staff Application Terms & Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement made between you, whether personally or on behalf of an entity (“you”) and Star by Star Gaming ("Company", “we”, “us”, or “our”), concerning your volunteer services on any of our services and or platforms such as and not limited to, our websites, game servers, any other media form, media channel, console or PC application, mobile website or mobile application related, linked, or otherwise connected thereto. You agree that by posting this application and or responding to application question (1.) with "Yes, I do agree to these terms and conditions.", you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all of these terms and conditions. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH ALL OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, THEN YOU ARE EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED FROM APPLYING FOR A VOLUNTEER STAFF POSITION AND YOU MUST DISCONTINUE YOUR APPLICATION PROCESS IMMEDIATELY.
You accept and understand that you are not any form of an employee, contractor, or agent of Star by Star Gaming. You accept and understand that the volunteer services you provide will be a donation and under no circumstances will you expect wages, salary, or benefits from Star by Star Gaming for the services provided during your time as a Volunteer Staff member. We reserve the right to remove or let go of any volunteer staff member for any reason and at any time at our sole discretion.
Any and all actions, including and not limited to, player and or user punishment, such as issued bans or otherwise on our game servers, websites, or other platforms, as well as any statements made by you, or any behavioral misconduct, does not express the views of Star by Star Gaming and are conducted at your sole discretion. You agree that all of these are of your own and you withhold full personal responsibility. Your actions, behavior, and or statements will be taken or given at your sole discretion and you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless, including our subsidiaries, affiliates, and all of our respective officers, agents, partners, contractors, volunteers, volunteer staff, and employees, from and against any loss, damage, liability, claim, or demand due to the outcomes of your gross negligence, willful misconduct, actions, statements, and or behaviors or any other conduct on your behalf, which cause or may give rise to criminal liability while performing volunteer staff services for Star by Star Gaming.
IN NO EVENT WILL WE OR OUR DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, VOLUNTEERS, VOLUNTEER STAFF, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFIT, LOST REVENUE, LOSS OF DATA, OR OTHER DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR VOLUNTEER SERVICES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
These Volunteer Staff Application Terms & Conditions can and may be updated at any time without notice at our discretion, so be sure to frequently check back for any updates to these terms and conditions. An effort to inform you that they've been updated will be made, but not promised, so it's your responsibility to periodically check back. I would say around June of 2020 is when I notice it on Hogwarts rp and I've been active on it ever since.
(4a) How can we be certain that you will remain active on the server upon being accepted for a volunteer staffing position? -
This is the only game I really play on pc besides Valorant or new games with online friends.
(4b) Do you understand that you can be let go at any time for excessive inactivity at our discretion? -

(5.) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with, but also enforce the rules of the server when necessary? -

(5a) Please explain each of the main server rules and what they each mean, to convey to us that you understand and comprehend them wholly.
1. No fail RP:
Follow your ruleset accordingly, the biggest takeaway would be don't snatch people if you aren't able too and etc. Don't be using old death knowledge in your new life either.
2. Be respectful:
No hate speech treat everyone how you would want to be treated. No using racial slurs or anything that is derogatory about people's sexuality or race. Most common thing are the n-word f-word and as well as certain words you can't really say on the serve, such as the p word.
3. No RDM:
No random death match, and be aware of NLR don't kill your own respected side either.
4. Obey staff and RP leaders:
They are like your irl boss, treat them that way as far as staff goes. for RP leaders know the equal from the Hogwarts server such as prefects, head prefects, elite aurors and snatchers.
5. No free-spelling:
No spells that could do damage or disrupt people's rp unless there is a case in which you may do so (snatch or revealed void)
6. No metagaming:
Act like you are in the game and the telemail isn't real don't say in ooc that you are snatch etc. Knowing the exact location of a person snatching someone when you just died too would fall under breaking this rule as well.
7. Do not mic spam or chat spam:
Don't play music or scream in your mic it ruins people RP.
8. Telemail is for RP purposes only:
Only use this for posting snatches, requesting for a teacher, events, votes, RFD, DOS, etc. use OOC for everything else.
9. No ERP:
They are kids on here keep it pg, don't be weird we are here to rp and make friends. No sexual or erotic roleplay on this server.
10. No exploiting or cheating of any kind:
No scripting or use spells to find problems within the maps.

Hello guys my name is Chandler for those who do not know! I decided that now isn't the best time for me to be a game maker but I still want to be a part of the staff team. I want to be a part of the staff because I enjoy the community a lot and want to get my name know for when I want to move forward with sbs.
(7.) In your opinion, which quality of yourself do you feel that you need to improve on the most? -
Being outgoing to everyone a bit too much especially when I do sits, I need to regulate and enforce the rules and not take any bs from people when they are breaking the rules.
(7a) In your opinion, which skill set of yours do you feel that you need to improve on the most? -
Probably moderating, I have learned a lot while as helper don't get me wrong, but as a single person on the server I want to have more time hopefully my trail will improve that skill set.
(8.) How would having you on our volunteer staff team benefit our server and what qualities set you apart from the rest of the applicants? -
If I'm not at work and I am at home if the server needs a mod I can be on the server asap. I feel like I have that response time in the bag.
(9.) Have you ever previously maintained a game server staffing position, or currently are, on any other Garry's Mod servers? If so, which ones, and in which staffing positions? (List them if possible) -
Just helper on this server!
(10.) Have you ever previously been banned on any Garry's Mod or SBS servers? If yes, then please list approximately when, how long, and the reasoning(s). -
Just SBS whenever I first started I was a minge, If I was banned over the last year it was probably over rdaing.
(11.) In your opinion, are the server staff or the players of more importance? Why? -
Both are important in my opinion, without staff the server will go to shit and without the people on the server staff would haven't a reason to be staff.
(12) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (E.g., patience, response time, etc.) -

I changed it because I had multiple people dm me on discord saying how picky Miro and Gina are for new gm's I'm in the process of converting my Google docs that had all my hogwarts lore events that I would just add stuff randomly beginning from my first gm mock trial (February) to new events that will fit this new lore we are making. With all these people applying for gm that I never knew had any interest added to the mix I felt the sense of maybe I'm not ready for it. If I'm being honest it made me just uncomfortable with all the people messaging me. On the bright side of it though applying for mod is a stepping stone in the right direction for what I really want to do in this server & as well as I'm able to be a gamemaker on a friend's server to show for in upcoming applications. Hope you understand a bit better now:))

You need way more time as "temp" and need more/better training.
- You shouldn't be in god mode without reason. ie: being in a sit in DF area.
I ran up to you and randomly tried to hit you with a damage spell, which you
took no damage. I kept hitting you with it and repeatedly stated to turn god mode off.
You've been in the same area for a while, no sits and was godded, eventually turning it off
after a few mins of me confronting you about it.
- People where being toxic [rdm & mic spam] and you made a joke saying you're just going to go afk
instead of dealing with it, and then you did exactly that.
- Someone and I were jokingly throwing spells at each other in which none of us
reported it. You pulled me and stated that we need to stay away from each other.
What kind of shit is that? I'm not going to "stay away" from someone just because
we're free spelling each other. and "someone else" reported it? shut up dude.
- Stop asking random people or ex staff from years ago about what to do about situations.
You openly asked Kyrie what to do about someone and I freespelling each other. There's a staff
discord for a reason, you should be asking them, not someone who keeps getting denied for temp. Hello?
These are just a few examples. I'm having a hard time believing that you were properly
trained to begin with because I don't think it's possible to be that bad as a temp staff member.

If you want to pursue Gamemaker position and you do not feel comfortable applying for GM as of now, I agree the best approach is to solidify your position as a full time moderator and acquire more experience before making another application to GM.
When and if you do become a full moderator, you can even ask administrators to let you help them with some builds and events so that you can get the gist of it
Reading other people´s concerns, I would say it is fairly normal to make mistakes when you are a new staff member especially in your first weeks, this time around with a new staff manager I am sure you would receive a proper training
God mode everyone makes that mistake that they activate God mode (even admins make them mistake so I dont see that as something that you should be blamed for!) and I completely understand doing a staff sit with God mode in order to prevent players rdming you when you are providing assistance to a player (however to prevent people from bitching about it: activate God mode, teleport yourself into a sit room and bring the player with you)
Then you asking previous staff members for advice, nothing wrong with it either, it is actually a good thing because they might have knowledge regarding a situation you do not possess at the time, however try to ask for advice in staff chat and then ask for advice to previous staff members who are not in the staff discord, the most important thing in these situations is that you try to get different points of view and/or confirmation regarding a decision you would make. At the end of the day, if you make a mistake learn from it and it is not the end of the world
Then I do not know if you really went afk while people were micspamming, but if you feel that it is too much for you to handle or if you feel that you would not be able to distribute fair punishment, contact another staff member, use admin chat as much as possible or if there is no other staff online request for staff to come online to assist you over on discord, or in alternative you can log off and tell players in /ooc chat that they can report any rule breaking on the forums (easy!)
My vote will be a neutral to +1 (server needs moderators, and you have the basics because you were a helper, just keep in mind to ask fellow staff members for help when in doubt and to know when to take a break, and if possible while this app is up you can ask staff members to let you watch how they handle different staff sits so that you can learn from them)

I just wanted to say thanks for your standpoint. Fr fr, all bullshit aside appreciate your advice with stuff. I hope to please you as time goes on but lm learning for moderating like I said, I'm not going to be perfect, that's what I said in my app I gotta work on it. Being a previous staff I don't know why you are giving me a hard time. I'm not an idiot, I know the situation between you and ash, I asked staff chat prior what to do with you and it is not wrong for me to ask former staff members what to do in situations. It's completely normal. Don't lie either saying that I was going to be AFK just because people are micspamming. You were just belittling me in the sit room saying I'm not the one, where I'm just trying to figure out the situation. You were trying to just not let me figure out the situation and after that you just left along with your other friends. Please just refrain from doing it on the server do it somewhere else.
For clarification for you too I DID ask the former staff member for their opinion in a sit room. I DID ask staff prior what to do for this "special" situation. It's all a learning process for me that I'm glad to say has helped me moving forward, thanks moomoo :))

I think during the duration that this app is up it might be beneficial to maybe shadow a few staff members or even do a few mock trials. I found doing those things really helped my mod app when I was applying.
I think given a bit of training and a chance to do a mock trial or two you could be accepted.
I'm going to be giving you a +1
Plus it's nice to see people interested in staffing, at the rate we had people resigning there was only going to be admins and GMs left
