Class Changes

#1
Hi! I'm submitting a few suggestions because I'd like feedback and ideas regarding some ideas I have about ways to improve things that currently exist on the server.
If you have feedback, criticism, or an opinion, please do give it!

Classes Changes

Clashing Club
Spell clashing no longer exists on our server, but we still have "Clashing Club" as a class.
With the rules the way they are currently, clashing club serves little to no purpose; you literally can not clash and compete in that way.
Ideas to improve it:
- Revert clashing club to what it used to be. Clashing did not always exist on our server. The old wands did not have that function. Instead, during Dueling Club, students fought to near-death using Verdi. They would stop before each other died.
- If we revert back to how dueling club used to be, change duelio to be teachable as a temporary spell by any of the spells professors, have it not be able to take people past 10hp or so. First to 10hp in a duel loses.
- Potentially add homework

Or we,
- Remove the class entirely. No clashing, no clashing club.

Recreation
I'll be honest, I have no clue how to implement something for this without it being complicated and a lot of work. Any quick fix would be underwhelming and dysfunctional. Even before, Quidditch was very much an unpopular class, it didn't serve a huge purpose outside of lower years having fun riding their brooms around the first few times. Without the brooms / Quidditch pitch, it's a wasted timeslot in my opinion. There's a side effect of the xp rates increasing as a result of it being removed, but I don't see that as a bad thing exactly considering they're pretty slow as is, plus we just tripled our prestiges. If we're moving away from Hogwarts, classes like this that don't have a solution or easy alternative, shouldn't be clung to.

Assembly
As it stands now, there's not a good area for assembly to be held. We used to use the Great Hall, but don't have an equivalent of that for the time being.
- Maybe we could build a small area for assembly over the opening in the castle where you can see the water. There's an invisible floor there currently. We could cover that with an actual flooring, slap some benches down, slap a lectern down, and that could be the area for it. It's in the middle of everything, it'd probably be a good place for it.

Potions
Last, and the one I've thought most about, Potions.
Potions class currently is a non-mandatory class, that serves the purpose of allowing people to create potions during the class period.
Personally, I feel like allowing potions to only be made during the class period, and the ingredients only be picked up by very specific jobs, is criminally underutilizing a cool system that's unique to our server.
I think we should, with potions as a whole:
- Allow ingredients to one of the potions to be bought for free, as a intro to the potions system for new students.
- Allow ingredients to be gathered by all humanoid jobs
- Allow potions to be created during any class period
- Add all ingredients to be bought for a price, with ingredients to the stronger potions costing more gold than the less powerful potions. This would be one actual use for gold, assuming you make the better ingredients cost like 10k or so.
- Add a cooldown to certain very strong potions (for example, a 20 minute or so cooldown to the love potion, so this can't be spammed on one person, similar to snatching)

I think these changes would alter gameplay on the server quite a bit. It would benefit new players who don't have spells, they could make potions after their classes or during non-mandatory classes. For old players, it'd give them something else to play with, something to do on the server. It could change PVP by allowing people to have resurrection potions, speed potions, etc, adds some variety to those that take the time to utilize the system. Like I said before, I think we are underutilizing a unique bit to our server. Limiting it how we do now makes the majority of potions rarely be used.

Ways to improve potions as a classroom, assuming the above is considered:
- The professor's role would be to teach new students how to use the potions table. With permission from a staff member, they could go on a field trip to show students where ingredients spawn naturally. Don't put any ingredients in void areas if we do this, obviously.
- As stated above, allow one potion's ingredients to be purchased for free, for students to learn the system
- Give it the ability to drop homework, similar to other classes. This would make xp a little faster to earn, but ultimately I don't see that as a *huge* issue because we just tripled the number of prestiges we have.
- Add a lectern in the classroom that you can press E on, and have it pop up a guide on where to find potions ingredients for new students.

I do think that overall, most if not all of these changes could be beneficial to the server in its' current state. Even if these weren't the changes made, I do think something should be changed or tweaked with these. Hell, a lot of the time we get begged to skip these classes. That's why I want to get some discussion going and hear some other ideas if people had any.
Of all these changes, I'd really love for the Potions rework to be considered the most -- that's the hardest one to do, but that's also the most interesting one to me.

for alchemy i think you could put an in-game map of where "hot spots" for each ingredient is kinda like how evo had for his map on the old map but more broad

I think instead of setting a cooldown for each potion, it would be interesting to have either a cool down for each ingredient you interact with, or a set amount you're allowed to pick up for each class period, so for example, during Recreation, you'd be allowed to pick up maybe 5 standard ingredients, 3 leeches, 2 moonstones, and so on, and when classes change the amount for each one would reset. This would be so that you'd only be allowed to brew an X amount of potions depending on each one you decide to brew since a few of them have a lot of ingredients.

its annoying when some roles can pick up ingredients even more when you can only do it during potions and spending hours finding the ingredients was annoying...having the choice to buy would be great and a use for money which has a lack of use anyway except for events or buying people ...so a improved potions system would be great

Hi I wanted to articulate my thoughts before I came up with solutions for each and every class you have listed here.

Clashing Club
This might be a hot take, but I wouldn't mind having clashing club function as a chaotic one v one arena for newer players and students. This also includes fighting to the death, I know it's failrp and frowned upon for the longest time, but we are no longer harry potter and something of our own gamemode, so having people fight and respawn isn't a terrible path to go down. I would love a trial of this and see what people think.

Rules to be enforced for this would simply be obey the 1v1 rules, and only students/teachers may 1v1. I do not mind custom jobs but only if they use the weak dmg spells and no special sweps. No spells such as abracadabra evaporate fireball and supernova.

Recreation
There is a way for guy to have classes spawn in special props just for the time period as well as entities. For this one I would propose wizard soccer. When the class starts, 2 nets appear and a teacher job that has the ability to spawn the soccer ball props. It will then be up to the players and teachers to play it out have they want. Again chaos but fun chaos.

Assembly
I don't think there is a place or time for this one at the moment. We don't need to remove it but use it as another free time.

Potions
- Allow ingredients to one of the potions to be bought for free, as a intro to the potions system for new students.
- Allow ingredients to be gathered by all jobs
- Allow potions to be created during any class period
- Add all ingredients to be bought for a price, with ingredients to the stronger potions costing more gold than the less powerful potions. This would be one actual use for gold, assuming you make the better ingredients cost like 10k or so.
- Add a cooldown to certain very strong potions (for example, a 20 minute or so cooldown to the love potion, so this can't be spammed on one person, similar to snatching)

I agree this is extremely under utilized and it's no longer new, the restrictions should be lifted and all jobs should be allowed to make potions at ANY TIME. Keep the class for lessons but please it's time.

In the end I tried to keep this as realistic as possible when it comes to making changes, so if you disagree with something please let me know

I think it was et that had a 1v1 PvP arena for QP but it was an anyone v anyone all just line up and wait your turn anything goes fight. as for the other stuff aside from ALL jobs having potions access i agree, some jobs i feel might be a little to much for potions such as the hitman, dragons, cyclops, manticore, and prob a few others... however MOST jobs i feel would be okay, like i'm not gonna throw a fit if a unicorn has a reinforce or health potion.

That's actually a pretty good thing I didn't think about when coming to potions. Maybe not all the jobs but I think most human jobs that are definitely not hitman

@Luke Sisca , good catch on animals not being allowed to make potions. I agree with that heavily. Limiting it to humanoid jobs would be best, I think
