(2.) What position are you applying for? - Halo Server Manager

(3.) When did you first join our server and how did you discover it? - Joined Halo when it opened because Guy said he was opening a Halo server

(4.) Community staff must be active at a higher standard when compared to staff, do you understand that you may be let go for inactivity? - I do understand this, and I would like to address the fact that I am already a manager so one might think this would decrease my activity on the Forums, this isn't the case, I spend all my free time on SBS, staying up the whole night to work on additions to both Halo and the Forums most nights of the week. I think I have enough constant activity to fulfil the roles and responsibilities of both positions. I spend all day every day on SBS.

(5.) Tell us about yourself and why you want to be staff on SBS? (100 words or less) - I am Albert, I have played on SBS servers and in the SBS community for many years now. I enjoy computer programming, it's what I am aiming to do in later life. I have no friends and I am unhealthy. I also like Diet Coke (The flavour of regular coke is okay, but the sugary taste sticks in my mouth and tastes bad).

What do you feel you need to improve on the most? - The main argument against my application is that I already hold the Forum Manager position, I have checked that I can make the application, both Zubey and Guy allowed me to make an application, but that doesn't make the problem go away. My response to this argument is that I am very active and have a significant amount of time that I can dedicate to both positions. The forum manager position doesn't need nearly as much effort as the other managers already put in to their jobs, it still needs serious and unbiased oversight however in terms of time requirement, it is easily viable to perform a secondary role in the community.

(7.) How would having you on staff benefit our server and what sets you apart from the rest of the applicants? - I already do quite a lot of behind the scenes shit on the server, fixing broken scopes, bad crash causing code, conflicting addons which make lots of clientside errors, merging weapons and just minor benefits, like creating the LFS repair tool (for air force to repair their ships), adding nicer props to the fortification tablet (for Navy), armour recharge for the spartan jobs and my favorite, stopping doors from mass fucking RDM. I have a good knowledge of programming in general, I can apply that knowledge to many different languages which helps from a development perspective, I am somewhat okay with modeling and texturing, I'm not the most artful but it can help with some of the smaller things (Like reducing content needed to play)

(8.) Have you been staff/are currently on any other servers? If so, which ones? (List them if possible) - Hogwarts Mod (lots of times), Hogwarts GM , Halo GM, Halo Admin, Forum Admin, Forum Manager.

(9.) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (EX: Patience, response time, etc) - I find it hard to list my skills, so sorry about this question
8 Patience, I fell like I have a high degree of patience
7 Response time, I am up and online but if I'm not at home (university is the only time I leave my house) I have no mobile data, I can only really respond to messages when I'm at university or at home
6 Seriousness, I have had issues in the past with messing around, I really think that I have grown over time, I am not serious 100% of the time, but I feel I am serious where it matters
8.5 Computer Programming, I don't know, I am just trying to think of skills to note, I can program well, but if I don't know what something is I have to learn it first

If you are no longer Staff on any SBS server(s), please give a short explanation of why you are no longer staff. (Disregard if this is your first application) - This is how I remember it, I may be wrong or missing something
  • Hogwarts Mod November 30th 2016 demoted a few weeks later for hosting an event as a mod (my intention wasn't to have an event, I was just trying to have some passive RP)
  • Forum Admin January 8th 2017 held the position until being made Forum Manager
  • Hogwarts Mod February 8th 2017 held the position until being made Hogwarts GM
  • Forum Manager March 21st 2017 held the position
  • Hogwarts GM June 11th 2017 eventually resigned a few months later
  • Hogwarts Mod October 8th 2017 voted off of trial for overusing obscuration (teleport spell), I didn't have enough time to improve between being told to use it less (where I stopped using it entirely) and the final meeting
  • Hogwarts Mod February 19th 2018 eventually resigned the position because of the attitude of many staff members towards a manager during some drama put me out and stopped me from wanting to play
  • Halo GM March 16th 2019 held the position
  • Halo Admin June 9th 2019 voted off of trial, I don't remember all the reasons given, the ones I remember was calling elites hinge heads (an RP insult used in RP) and overusing event maps (I used the map in question twice ever). I big part of my negative feedback was due to an issue a few days before where a GM took a sit and was acting abhorrently (demotion worthy bias and attitude) towards the player in the sit, I took over the sit and didn't punish the player as there was zero evidence which showed the RDM was intentional (even what the GM saw). I handled the sit at face value but the GM didn't like the player and stirred up a problem with me in discord after.


(11.) (Optional) Provide examples of situations you would handle in the position you are applying for here and how you would handle them. -
There is a big list of development plans that I'd like to go through: (off the top of my head)
  • Put a timer on active camo so it isn't overpowered and can be allowed in combat more often (the timer was easy to add, but when I added a HUD element, I crashed three times so I reverted the change and still need to work out why it caused problems)
  • Fixing flash bangs (they just need to work over shorter distances and not from behind walls)
  • Condensing all the weapons into the required ones (reducing Lua files to reduce crashes and problems and downloads required to play)
  • Remaking the Challenge Room for the new map and allowing officers to reserve rooms
  • A HUD mission objectives box for Officers and GMs in events
  • Improving F6 squads to contain more players and possibly another squad specific mission objectives HUD
  • Improvements on tiered jobs (so that instead of having two dozen jobs, the stats for the default job gets better over time)
  • Improving Echo squad to be more of a CQC squad rather than just a squad with worse weapons
  • Creating some Simfphyies land vehicles for SoS

In terms of server management, there are a few points I want to go over, again, this is just off the top of my head, there are more things that I have to work on
  • We need a compendium, however it is very important that it is not like Hogwarts' Compendium, it has to be simple and easy for a player to understand, Hogwarts has been up for so long it's rules get more and more convoluted over time. This is the big one and it encompasses several other changes such as creating the actual rules that SF will enforce, the RP rules on the server that players should follow, better protocol for comms (especially open comms and who can use it)
  • Repopulating the SoS which has been getting less and less active over time
  • Reworking the VIP jobs. The current VIP jobs which most people use are things like the HWS, Armoured Division, Marksman and to a lesser extent, the two ODST jobs. These are specializations of the main groups and having more VIP specialised jobs would improve VIP for those who have purchased it
  • Setting up a system where Spartans are assigned to battalions. This means Spartans will have more structure, they will answer to someone and they will receive more attention and possible promotions from their CO.


I know the biggest problem will be having Forum Manager, for those who don't like reading, I address that problem in question 6 and 4

Albert is really friendly (most of the time) and is very helpful! He spends so much of his time helping the community, especially the Halo server, and I know he knows so much about how Garry's Mod and the servers work, mainly from just hearing him talk about it constantly, even though I'm not sure what he's talking about most of the time :P

I really do think Albert would be great for this.

Albert spends most of his time helping the server and he has done a lot for it behind screens or people know about it. As he mentioned he helped with addons, codes, armor, doors and weapons. He is a really good fit for this spot as what he is doing now is outstanding.

If he's helped out as much as he has, he's basically been doing Server Manager stuff anyway, I plus 1'd Zane but I also believe you're just as if not more qualified for this position given what I've seen you do and somewhat helped you with.

Being already management you have that experience of managing a team.

As someone who comes under your leadership, I know how you operate as an officer. I would say you're better than most other officers on the server, but that's honestly not saying much right now. I feel like you're very uninvolved, and I just can't really get a good assessment of you because of that. You certainly are a good staff member, and I could see you being a manager. I just can't be sure that you're the *best* choice right now.

I'm more than happy to change my vote should I see something to change my mind on this. But right now the biggest thing I'm looking for is someone who knows how to be a legitimate officer, and beyond that someone who can organize and manage the other officers so that things can finally start getting into shape. And the second biggest thing is activity, because that's literally the most important part of being a leader (both in staff and officer-wise).
