[Hogwarts] What sort of events would you like to see/not see?

As the title asks: I don't believe one of these has been conducted in a while so I figure I may as well start one up.

Simply list your order of preference for event types that come to mind and include whether or not PvP, PvE, or a new map should be involved.

After some time has passed, feel free to post again or edit your response if your appetite for event types changes. This is not to get ideas from you over specifics but should be treated more like an open feedback/survey of what you want to see/don't want to see.

(e.x "I like seafood," not that you want pan-seared salmon with dill sauce)
Joey's response below is a perfect example

Quote:I think events that develop themselves are the best, off the cuff passive rp events are always my favorite, it seems when these happen even some random first year can effect the outcome of the event. I think thats cool as fuck.
For me, I personally enjoy seeing people's roleplay organically develop into something larger. When people bring to the table something interesting, whether it be family conflicts, some feud, some fascination with a job, object, faction, or area of study at Hogwarts, I feel like it's awesome to see those people make something out of nothing.
I feel there are times when a thought out event (with a story and everything!) could be implemented with some flexibility, but having these events on the backburner and implementing them when a potential path leading to the planned event opens up is a great way to introduce and use the event idea

HogwartsRP is just an ostentatious journey into a lunatic asylum.
A myriad of cancerous shitfuckery.

I am bored of PvP and the events where you just kill monsters, they are so repetitive now and i've lost my interest massively in them. I would prefer something that was more story based like (i know Gina has already done this its just an example) where Umbridge is control of the school.

Yesterdays event with the spiders were cool, but, as Amelia said, it's repetative and I also would like to see more events that focus on heavier roleplay rather than just killing mobs.

We had a stupid event develop organically in the courtyard last night. It wasn't anything interesting or special but people seemed to enjoy it. It also proves that the average player can coordinate to limited degrees without any RP leaders haha.

Maybe it can be the inspiration for a future, more polished event?

Anyways take a look:

https://youtu.be/K-TtQ73dsDA?t=223

For those unable to watch or for the confused, everybody in the courtyard just decided it would be fun to all walk in a circle around the SBS statue without touching the grass if possible.

learnings:
people love the floor being lava
basic coordination is possible

take away:
maybe some sort of maze event?

The core things I honestly look for in events atm to see if I want to even take part in them are
1) Is it just another just kill X number of Y
2) What are the possible outcomes and can multiple people "win"
3) Is it an actual challenge
4) How engaging can it be RP wise

what joey said, when there is something already going on and then a gm does something off of that. Forced events are the worst, especially when there is already only 1 predetermined outcome. Also kill the the big man with 10k HP events suck unless you are the boss.

I personally enjoy events where trolls are allowed to enter the school and take the place as prefects.

Back when I first joined the server, I always liked the events where students would have to retrieve items hidden everywhere, or the events with mystery and suspense (Like a murder mystery night, I can't remember who started those but it was super fun)

I agree with Jerome and Joey on this one. Events with multiple outcomes are the best, though they are definitely hard to come across when planning and executing an event.
