Tadpole's Moderator Application

#1
(1.) What is your SteamID and your Steam URL? - STEAM_0:1:47692189
 STEAM URL: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198055650107/

(1a) What is your most recent in-game name? -  CS 3447 Tadpole

(1b) What battalion are you in? - 212th

(2.) What Timezone do you live in? - PST (west coast best coast)

(2a) Please put what times you are most active in CST (Chicago US), so the managers know when they can expect to see you. - I am active 12pm-10pm CST, usually on later as well.

 (3.) How old are you? - 23

(4.) When did you first join our server and how did you discover it? - Soaring recommended the server to me a couple months ago, and I joined with a friend. This took place mid-April 2020.

(4a) How can we be sure you will stay active and loyal (with your time) to Star by Star? - Since I have joined I can count the number of events I have missed on one hand; all of that to say I have been pretty active. If my track record serves any purpose, I am active in both my primary (212th) and second life (Medic).

(4b) Do you understand you can be let go at ANY time for inactivity? - Absolutely.

(5.) Do you understand and agree to not only comply with, but also enforce the rules of the Server when necessary? - I understand and will be complicit in enforcement of the rules.

(5a) When listing the rules please explain what they mean to show that you understand them.
 List Rules below:
1: No Fail RP. Quite simply, this means to not do anything out of the scope of a normal clone trooper. This includes things such as using EMPs on organic targets, acrobatics, as well as behaviors unbecoming of a trooper in the GAR.
2: Do not disrespect other players and staff. To me, this means that one should save their warrior mentality for the RP, not their keyboard. If someone is being rude bring it up with staff, but there is no reason to disrespect anyone on the server for any reason.
3: No RDM. Do not kill other players unless explicitly sanctioned (e.g. they are a player character, sanctioned PVP, etc.) by RP leaders.
4: Obey Staff and RP Leaders. This falls into line particularly with rules 1 and 2. Part of successfully RPing is following your staff/RP leaders, and this follows for respecting them and other players as well.
5: Do not mic or chat spam. This goes back to respecting the player environment. The voice and mic system are impossible to ignore in an RP setting, so by inhibiting spam, it allows for a less toxic player community.
6: Advert if for RP purposes only: Any non-RP communication should go into '/ooc', whereas the ADVERT and comms channel are dedicated to allow for immersive RP.
7: Salute your commanding officers. In line with successful RP is addressing officers with the proper respect. Salute when you see an officer, continue to make the base an authentic SWRP experience.
8: No AFK/map exploits - If you know you will be AFK for an extended period, log off so there is room on the server for active players. Do not take advantage of map elements that were not designed to be used by the players.

(5b) Explain what the term "minge" means, when referring to a player on the server - A "minge" is a player that has come on with no purpose to RP, but rather to satisfy their own sense of amusement at the expense of other players' immersion. In other words, someone who comes on to mock what other players are looking to glean from the server. This includes elements such as RDM, spam, breaking PTS, etc.

(6.) Tell us about yourself and why you want to be staff on SBS? (100 words or less) - I think that the current mods on the server do an excellent job of mitigating and avoiding conflict, and I think those are personality traits I also have down pat. Beyond that, I have a pretty healthy critical thinking framework and enjoy helping people solve problems and make things run more smoothly (I am an engineer irl so efficiency is very important to me)

(7.) What do you feel you need to improve on the most? - I think that being newer on the server, I definitely need to build more of a rapport with everyone, and become not just a battalion member, but a member of the greater community!

(8.) How would having you on staff benefit our server and what sets you apart from the rest of the applicants? - Immediately I think that having an older staff member with actual life experience with conflicts and problem solving outside of the internet is useful. Work has me talking to complete strangers often, so having a mod that can engage with the greater community and not be cliquey is an important part to any community, gaming or otherwise. I bring that to the table as well as what I think has been an generally positive vibe on the server with my attitude.

(9.) Have you been staff/are currently on any other servers? If so, which ones? (List them if possible) - Nope.

(10.) Have you ever been banned on any Garrys Mod/SBS servers? If yes, then please list when, how long, and the reason. - Nope.

(11.) Are the Server staff or the players more important? Why? - The players. The purpose of staff is to cultivate an environment that retains and captivates players. Staff is a meaningless position without benefactors to actually support.

 (12) How would you rate your skills overall out of 10 (EX: Patience, response time, etc) -

Patience - 10 (worked with children through college, very much a learned skill)
Response time - 7 (I usually respond same-day, though sometimes there can be a delay of a couple hours)
(please indicate what other skills you might want me to speak on in the comments, it feels vain to add more unsolicited skills)

(13.) If you do not know how to handle a situation in a mod-sit, what do you do? - I would refer the situation at hand to the staff manager, let them know what is going on and make clear that in its current form I feel unequipped to handle the situation.

(14.) You understand and realize, that by applying for staff on the server also means, that you are sacrificing the complete freedom of being able to RP freely all the time without any interruptions, and are obligated to handle all server issues at hand no matter the situation? - I understand and am willing to make this concession.

(15.) Please make a list of all previous staff applications, a link to them, and the reason they were locked. If they were accepted, please give a short explanation of why you are no longer staff. (Disregard if this is your first application) - N/A

I believe Fish/Tadpole will provide a new and mature viewpoint to the staff team that would greatly benefit the server. We are low on moderators and Fish has proven to be serious and dedicated to the server. I believe this would be a great addition to the limited amount of moderators.

Fish. He's loyal, active, determined, and serious when needed. He always puts others first before himself and is well caring about the community. He brings a positive attitude to the table constantly, proven on and off the server, no matter the situation. He'd be a great...let me rephrase, amazing addition to the staff team. I'm all for it man.

+1, easily. I've spent so much time around Fish/Tadpole that I can confidently say that everything he presents in this application is true. Not only is he one of my best troopers in the 212th, but he is easily one of the most passionate, most approachable players I've worked within the entire community. On top of that, he exhibits a positive attitude that I believe everybody in the community should follow. I'm extremely impressed with the way he's handled toxicity in OOC chat. In fact, toxicity is a matter even occasionally struggle with as a Captain, but Fish always encourages me to let others' toxicity go, leaving a positive influence on myself and others around us. If you want a moderator who will dedicate himself to being objective, mature, and helpful, picking Fish is a no-brainer.

I just recently found out fish was 23 and not 12 and that still blows my mind. Anyways a huge +1 cause he is responsible and would make a great mod.
